M83 was in full effect on Saturday night with their loud guitars and keyboards, sounding great in front of a fairly small crowd. Props to Sean for the hook-up. Gockley was in town for the weekend, showed up at the end of the show, and Mike and I helped showed off our fair city that has changed so much since she left 5 years ago for a windier one. I caught another film at the Philadelphia Film Festival, a Korean film called Woman is the Future of Man. My houseguests have been way ahead of my pace seeing 4 or 5 movies a day, but they have super important all access passes. Last night, we followed up with some DVD watching. Viva the American Astronaut! Jurado is Thursday at the Khyber and the new album has been on my heavy rotation, along with Joanna Newsom and Bosque Brown (who says I can’t listen to records I put out?). Hey, I’ve had this link for a while, but I know some others out there will appreciate this. Go download some Dylan/Cash collaborations, they are amazing! “Girl from the North Country” is just incredible, eh Stone? Starflyer 59 test pressings sound great…Continue reading

I added Starflyer 59 : Talking Voice vs. Singing Voice LPs to the online store. The covers arrived and the vinyl will be ready shortly. All orders will ship out as soon as the vinyl arrives. I also added the new Damien Jurado, Magnolia Electric Co., and Crytal Skulls albums to the store. Order away. Saxon Shore have left for tour and their first show is tonight. Catch them when they’re in a city near you. Johnathon and Dan are finishing up the Magic Hedge remixes this week in Bloomington. I haven’t heard anything yet, but am expecting some great collaborations. Update: Apparently Johnathon claims this has now turned into the new full-length. He tells me it’s going to be called White Ox. Now we have to figure out some artwork ideas. We’ll see what comes together. :::scott:::

Willis, Mike, and I saw Menomena and Hood on Thursday. Menomena delivered a really solid set, Hood was very underwhelming. Sometimes the electronics just don’t translate in the live setting. Today’s big distraction is the NCAA bracket predictions and I haven’t finished yet. On Wednesday, Dave, Nicole, Mike, Matt, and I are loading up into the van and driving to Indianapolis to see the first two rounds of games there. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun. I am disappointed that I’ll be missing Early Day Miners in Philadelphia on Friday at Mill Creek. If you’re around, join Willis and go see them play. They will not disappoint. The latest three releases should be en route from the factory, including the new Bosque Brown and Saxon Shore ep, as well as the re-issue of Be a Bright Blue. Starflyer 59’s jackets and test pressings should almost be ready for the vinyl release of Talking Voice vs. Singing Voice. Saxon Shore is at SXSW this week playing at the Fanatic Promotion showcase. Be there, this Wednesday, 16 March at the Velvet Spade in Austin. :::scott:::
