Cat Power was in brilliant form last night in the sanctuary of the unitarian church, beginning as a full band and playing many songs off of the new record, “You Are Free.” Things turned special when Chan sat at the grand piano and began playing many more songs by herself, before wrapping up with a few solo songs on electric guitar. The difference between the show I saw last night and one a couple years ago was definitely like night and day.
Damien Jurado will be playing in Philadelphia on 16 April with Dave Fischoff and Adam Voith and will be touring the US from 8 April to 19 April. Damien’s LP only release of demos from 1997 entitled “This Fabulous Century,” is still progressing towards release. It should be ready for the summer or early autumn.
