Happy Birthday to Adam, Carrie, Courtney, and Matthew. I’m back from some birthday celebrations and a dance party of sorts hosted by Danae and Emily in the West Philadelphia. It was great to see lots of good friends who were in attendance. I took the train up to New York last night for the first time in a long time to see my good friend Brian who was up from Austin. We’ve been friends since high school, so it’s always good to meet up. Our other friends Dave and Kate from Jersey (by way of Austin) met up with us for a long night of catching up. Jeremy Dybash is our expert etcher for the one-sided LPs and is going to finish up the etchings for Bosque Brown, June Panic, and Unwed Sailor shortly. Ethan and I are going to sort out the new B side for the Aspera one-sided LP and finally get this thing out. It’s been way way way too long and the world needs to hear these amazing songs. :::scott:::

Today is a groundbreaking day, the artwork for Damien Jurado : This Fabulous Century LP is done and on its way to the printer. Ethan was the mastermind who made it happen. Look for this LP to finally be ready for Damien’s October tour. It also looks like some of the artwork may make its way onto a tour shirt, but we’ll see how that goes. I’ve posted the artwork for this LP and the Woven Hand LP in the webstore if you want to see very small versions of them. Also, plans are underway to finish the etching for Aspera : Back When Love so this one-sided LP is nearing completion. The audio and jackets have been done for a while, this is all that’s left. :::scott:::

The show was an incredible performance, mixing their layered keyboards, noisy MBV-ish guitars, and electronic drum sounds as they played a wide selection from their most recent, post-Oh Fantastica material to an early song from Peace. Incidentally, I hosted their cd release party in 1998 for that debut album at Circle of Hope in Philadelphia where All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors, Antarctica, Jejune, Piebald, Asteroid #4, Damien Jurado, Dave Fischoff, Danielson, and Pedro the Lion had all played. There are no firm plans for what will happen yet, but if the new material is any indication, there will still be music in some form for their futures, collectively or individually. The Aspera Back When Love one-sided LP on btv will be the last official release from the band. On Friday night, I went with 10 friends to see a sold out showing of Fahrenheit 9/11 which was the top movie in box office revenue and is now the top grossing documentary of all time. Whether conservative or liberal, you owe it…Continue reading
