Yesterday’s mail brought some heightened excitement to the week. I finally heard Unwed Sailor’s The Marionette and the Music Box on my stereo in its entirety. It will go off to be mastered to cd and vinyl today. I also came closer to completed my collection of Microphones releases, getting Window on Yoyo/Know-Your-Own, along with a new LP release from the Mountain Goats and an older LP release from Mirah, both on Yoyo. I met up with my friends Michael and Andre last night for a bit to shoot the breeze and reminisce about old times at work since we all used to work together, but now don’t. Thanks to J. Edward, the technology for Friday’s cellphone performance is underway. If all goes well, Andy will be playing with Reels of White from his apartment in Los Angeles. Maybe a future show will involve us all staying home while we play at a club remotely. Of course, maybe everyone in attendance could dial in to some central phone number and just listen to the show over the phone. Matthew came to visit from Mississippi and is helping Jamie move out of her apartment back to Mississippi. So, last night, I went into the city to visit them and shoot the breeze. There is lots of schedule drama for the Ester Drang recording that we’re all trying to sort out. Studio arrangements have been cancelled on at least three different occassions for a wide variety of reasons, but we’re hoping to have this settled soon. Unwed Sailor have finished their tour with Toboggan. Matt should be home in the US now, but I haven’t heard from him. Nic is now in London and Johnathon is lazing around Switzerland. They will be finishing songs for their split 7″ with At The Close of Every Day for Jonathon Whiskey records in the UK. Jamie Hunt is progressing on artwork for The Marionnette and the Music Box. Plans are starting to be made for US and European tours in March and April of 2003. Denison is still cruising the country. I just added a confirmed date on 10 November in Reno, NV. It’s a bit last minute, but hopefully you can make it if you’re in that part of the country. I…
Tonight, I’ll be at the North Star in Philadelphia to see Damien Jurado rock out with T.W. Walsh and Songs:Ohia. I can’t wait. Hope to see you at the show. Last night, I watched most of the World Series game at my friend Dave’s house. I left when it was tied up, but then stayed up late enough to see the Giants pull through. I’m still a National League fan at heart, even though the Giants and Dodgers are fierce rivals. And, I really do like Barry Bonds. All American Radio are playing tomorrow night in Lancaster at the Chameleon with One Line Drawing, Arms Bend Back, and Falcon Jones. Starts at 6pm. All you Lancaster folks go out to the rock. I’ll be on my way to Pittsburgh to see the Philip Glass Ensemble play two nights. I talked to Denison on the road last night. He was in Kansas City and had just played at a David Eggers book signing in Missouri. He seems to be excited about how the tour is going.
