I’ve spent the last three nights watching the Red Sox do the impossible and last night’s game did not disappoint. I’m not so much a Red Sox fan as a Yankees hater, so it’s comforting. I’m still secretly dreaming of a Roger Clemens game 7 victory against the Red Sox in Fenway Park, the ultimate insult. I’m a National League fan at heart. Derek Jeter…most overrated player in baseball. While Ortiz was the Series MVP, Shilling in the Robert Redford “Natural” role bleeding while he mowed down the Yankees or Baseball Jesus, Johnny Damon, hitting the two homers last night make the end of the series very exciting. If only the World Series can be this good. :::scott:::

All of the Damien Jurado pre-orders are now at the post office and should be arriving to everyone within a week or so. I think you’ll be amazed by the cover. Ethan ran with the bootleg concept and came up with a bizarre Rorschach-blot inspired collage of Damien images, all done up in a lo-fi bootleg style. All pixelization is intentional and will enhance your listening experience. Trust me. Matthew and I are using our new electronic postage service so your orders will arrive with address verification and printed labels that should speed up delivery times. It also saves us time waiting in line at the post office. Cecil looked a little sad that he didn’t get to talk to me about the Philadelphia Eagles while he put postage on 120 LP boxes. Yes, I know the people at the post office by first name. Don’t you? :::scott:::
Thanks to everyone who came out to the BTV showcase at CMJ last night, especially Al and Tim from The Six Parts Seven. Saxon Shore debuted a set without a live drummer or recorded drum tracks, bringing in the ambient wall of guitar sound, but also maintaining the Saxon Shore melodic style. Joey Sweeney and the Forevertakers re-interpreted a Trouble with Sweeney song and offered up a few new songs that they’ve been working on as they move separately in a direction of ’70s AM radio pop. I rode up with Matthew, Carrie, Willis, and Lauren and we later met up with Jess. Matthew and Willis were 2/3 of Saxon Shore last night and seemed to be having a great time of it. We tracked down the supposed best falafel on the east coast and made a stop at Two Boots pizza to get a slice of Bayou Beast, at least that’s what I got and seem to always get. Love to get the spicy sausage/crawdad combo on my pizza. :::scott:::
