It’s been a while since I posted. I was home to Indiana for Christmas. Got to see my parents, grandma, and my good pal Ron and all his family. We all went to see the Elf and Ron and I did a late night showing of Lord of the Rings. Jess and I went to Williamsport and hung out with my pals Rich and Amy at the Crippled Bear. oh yeah. I’m hanging out in NYC for a couple of days, getting caught up on some work and fun. I made some updates to the mp3 links so you can access mp3s from The Trouble with Sweeney from the btv site, as well as their site. By the way, Saxon Shore’s site has some really nice photos from the tour. You can see what Matthew the king of btv mail order looks like while rocking out as the second saxxon guitarist. Johnathon from Unwed Sailor is going to be playing some shows with Decahedron, with some members of Frodus, and they’ll be touring some in February and March. Since we’ve been out of t-shirts for a while, I’m planning to make some more, possibly in hott pink and camoflage. If…Continue reading

All is well in The Saxxon camp. Their shoWs in FrEdonia, NY (last night) and HarrisoNburg, VA (tonighT) were well attended. I talked to Denison for 5 seconds as he was sound checking last night, but no more news from the tour. HopefullY he and Sufjan are rock comrades and loving the road. The Sweeneys…well, if Friendster is accurate, there was an accident, but it didn’t prevent last night’s show from happening. HOpe you make it back alive, boys. Unwed Sailor are planning, plotting, and routing tours for February and March. FebrUary is them solo at the moment; March is tentatively with the powerful instrumental machine that is Ativin. We aRe all thinking showcases at botH SXSW (Austin) in late-March and MacrOck (Harrisonburg) in early April. The spring will be oUr time in the sun and Mara will join up with us all as Bosque Brown. Hopefully Eric and Damien will get the Recording potentialS figured out once they’re back from the big rock tour. I chatted with my old pal Ron out in Portland, OR last night. We grew up together and had big rock dreams. He puts on shows somewhere out there now. I was at his wedding…Continue reading

At the moment, Unwed Sailor’s The Marionette and The Music Box is out of stock as a digipak, only the hardbound book with cd and LP versions are available. I’m not sure when we will get this version back in, so snatch up the other formats. I’m learning the magic of ebay this week, trying to sell off some old Sub Pop singles club 7″ that I never listenend to or had extra copies of, like the White Stripes, Bonnie Prince Billy, Death Cab for Cutie, and Modest Mouse. I didn’t realize I had so many hard to find records. By the way, the Magnolia Electric Company show last night was just plain amazing. I’ve seen Jason Molina play as Songs: Ohia two or three times solo and once with a full band on previous occassions and last night as a seven piece was mind boggling. Mike “Slo-Mo” Brenner (Marah, TTWS “Dear Life”) lended his lap steel skills to the rich country and rock sounds with layered keys and trumpet. You need to see this band live. Tomorrow night, I’ll be seeing Explosions in the Sky at the unitarian church in philadelphia. It’s a decent week for rokk at the…Continue reading
