I’m finally back from my travels. I was home for about a day, then went to my parents’ house in Indiana. There was snow on Christmas Eve, about 9″, so it was a nice and white for that week. I finally visited the James Dean Museum and gravesite in Fairmount, IN, a few miles from my hometown. It wasn’t as inspirational for me as it was for, say, Morissey, but it was a worthwhile experience. The Trouble with Sweeney are mixing their sophomore full-length at the moment. I’m going to visit tomorrow and will give a full report. The artwork for the Unwed Sailor album is nearly complete. Jamie Hunt showed us some mock layouts that he created with handmade characters. He’s really into it. The audio is ready for the cd and hopefully ready for the vinyl. Johnathon is setting up a tour for Unwed Sailor and Ester Drang in the US this March. Denison is back from much touring. I finally saw him on New Year’s Eve for the first time in almost 4 months. Time really does fly. He’s going to be going to the UK in February for some dates. Once they are finalized, I’ll put…

Greetings from Sunny Singapore. In music news, there was this interesting and fairly high profile article in the Philadelphia Inquirer about sad music in Philadelphia. Denison is out on tour now with Tracy Shedd (Teenbeat Records) and they both played together with The Trouble with Sweeney and Reels of White Softly Flow on Saturday night at the Fire. I was devasted by missing the show, especially since no one worked it out for me to perform by cell phone. Amateurs. The Trouble with Sweeney are in Miner Street studios toiling away on their sophomore full-length with Producer Brian McTear. Jamie Hunt is slaving away over artwork for Unwed Sailor’s The Marionette and The Music Box. Artwork is also nearly complete for All American Radio’s Fragments Of release. Audio material is finished for the Damien Jurado pre-sub pop greatest hits vinyl only release. No official release date is set for that yet. Last night, Brandtson headlined the Baybeats Music Festival here and shared the stage with several Asian bands of the emo, punk, or rock variety. It was very different to see my friends on such a grand stage and to see devoted fans taking their photos and asking for autographs.…
My installation of OS X is up and running. Nearly all of my applications are upgraded with a few things to fix up tonight. I’ve been casually looking through the website for the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album whose insert links major record labels with weapons manufacturing. It’s something to ponder a bit. Finishing up a few details for the Ester Drang recording. My part is to arrange for Chris Colbert to fly to Dallas and meet up with the Drang who will be recording in Denton, TX. Then, I am trying to figure out how to get everyone to Chicago to do overdubs and mix. It’s an exciting little puzzle. But, it’s nice to know that things are working out. The Trouble with Sweeney are planning their recording for December with Brian McTear who recorded their last record. They have a new rhythm section that has been working out the new songs in practice sessions. They will play on 15 November in NYC at the Living Room and on 7 December at the Fire with the new members. Denison continues to make his way around the country. He’s making his way towards the Northwest at a steady pace.…
