Nailed to the (Emperor) X

We’ve kept this under our hat for a while…Chad (aka Emperor X) has been holed up in a Dallas home recording studio feverishly tracking, mixing, and editing material that will become The Blythe Archives Volumes 2 and 3. These will be released in some format on Burnt Toast Vinyl later in 2010, most definitely on LP, most probably on cd, and downloads, too. And we’re excited about that. Emperor X will be touring throughout the year, so look for dates on the btv site, as well as emperorx.net. The live show is such an incredible experience, it is not to be missed. :::scott:::

Efterklang

I was snowed in and watched the documentary In A Dream by filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar about his father Isaiah Zagar, a Philadelphia artist. The soundtrack features Efterklang’s song “Kloy Gyn” from their Springer EP (which, incidentally, was what I heard before asking them to do a one-sided LP) and the video for “Cutting Ice to Snow” from their album Parades is featured as part of the extras. Efterklang – “Cutting Ice To Snow” from Herzliya Films on Vimeo. Efterklang will be here shortly for a U.S. tour in support of their forthcoming album, Magic Chairs, due 22 February on 4AD. The tour begins on 02 March in Philadelphia at the Unitarian. Their one-sided LP is still available, of course. :::scott:::

Goldenwest and The Faithful Anchor

Ester Drang’s Goldenwest and Unwed Sailor’s The Faithful Anchor both made Oklahoma Rock’s Top 100 Oklahoma albums of the ’00s at #5 and #24. Every time I look at the cover of Goldenwest, I get nostalgic remembering the epic photoshoot that my good friend Ethan and I went on as part of the booklet design. Great times, for sure. Beau Jennings’ band Cheyenne clocks in at #9 for their album I Am Haunted, I Am Alive. Beau was part of the band who recorded the Circle of Birds ep. :::scott:::
