This past weekend was much busier than I had expected. It began in a great way, with The Trouble with Sweeny playing I Know You Destroy! straight through for their cd release party. Many of these songs have never been performed live, so it was great to see. Have you paid attention when I talk up this album? The live show is extremely tight and Richard is a madman on the drums. Thanks to everyone who came out in support at the Ukrainian American Club. Thanks, in advance, to everyone who will see them rock on their national tour. Saturday night, Damien Jurado, Dave Fischoff, and Adam Voith were at Bryn Mawr College. If you don’t have a Dave Fischoff record or get the change to see him play live, you are missing out on one of the greatest underrated singer/songwriters. His most recent album, The Ox and The Rainbow, was one of my favorite releases in 2001. His set was amazing as he sang and played electric guitar over a minidisc of ambient noise and backup vocals. Other exciting developments continue with Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness to be released to stores on 3 June 2003 in a digipak version co-released by Burnt Toast Vinyl and Broken Factory. Hardbound book printing is in progress for The Marionette and The Music Box. Some of us may visit Iceland to see the printing happening; we’re at least excited to talk about it. I just had a surprise visit from Saxon Shore. They had to cancel a couple of show’s because Josh (drummer) was sick. They’re getting everything together to go to the midwest the rest of this week, including a visit through my hometown in Indiana. We all watched the Syracuse/Kansas game and watched it go down to the wire. All while talking rock business. This past Friday, I was at the Phillies’ home opener, watching Art Garfunkel (yes, Art Garfunkel!) sing America the Beautiful as part of the opening ceremonies. I braved the cold with my dad, Willis, Cake, Dave, and Willis’ friends and watched the Phils take a serious pounding from the Pirates. The next day, my parents and I saw the Phils return the favor with a 16-1 romp. Some severely uneven playing from both teams. We also had a change to visit the M
