I added some last minute shows for The Trouble with Sweeney. They’ll be in New York this weekend and Chicago next. Be sure to check them out. There are 6 songs completed for their spring cdep release that should contain a video, as well. We’re going for mastering on Monday with a release in May or so. A full-length will be recorded soon after and released this autumn. Mara Miller has finished her parts of her Bosque Brown album with Eric Fisher in Seattle. Eric is busy mixing everything down. The full-length will be ready for the autumn, as well. Denison Witmer’s Philadelphia Songs will be out on 31 March in Scandinavia and 19 April for the rest of Europe. Denison will be touring Scandinavia in early April and the UK in mid-May for two weeks with Charlemagne. There will be additional dates for Denison in mainland Europe to coincide with the UK dates, as well. :::scott:::

I just got back from a super last minute trip to the West Coast to see Jess, The Zombies, Low, Andy, and Jeff. The Zombies are on a little reunion tour and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to go. The band sounded amazing playing songs from Odessey and Oracle and some of Colin Blumstone’s solo material. Rod Argent’s solo stuff and the new songs from the Zombies weren’t quite up to snuff, but the rest of the set was so amazing that the rest was forgiveable. I was definitely glad to have gone. Low played the Knitting Factory and Jess and I were able to sit really close to the stage, so the sound was incredible. They played quite a few new songs and “murderer” from their ultra-limited 10″ release. It was a fairly long set and definitely a great one. The opener, Azalia Snail, was completely atrocious. Avoid, avoid, avoid at all costs. I’d like to think I saw them on a bad night, but I’m sure that wasn’t the case. Tonight, I’m hopefully going to meet up with my friend Emil from Oslo. Tomorrow, the Mountain Goats are playing in Philadelphia in the basement of the First Unitarian…Continue reading

Willis and I will be on our way shortly to see Decahedron play tonight in Brooklyn at Northsix. Maybe we’ll see you there? I saw them play in Wilkes-Barre last night. Hello to Zeke and Zack who were there. I met them at a Mineral show in 1997 and saw them a few times after, but it’s been a few years until last night. We’re going to meet up with Sufjan and Emil who’s visiting from Oslo. I hope he notices Randall waving the Norwegian flag on the site. We have officially decided to do another pressing of Sufjan’s Seven Swans. So, although pre-orders will be getting records from the first pressing, there will be plenty to go around for everyone in the near future. If you’re sticking around Philadelphia tonight, be sure to catch Aspera at The North Star. There have been some missing master problems with their one-sided LP that we’re hoping to resolve in the very near future and get that thing out. :::scott:::
