I went to see Jared and Everything Now! play in Indianapolis on Friday night with my sister Wendy. Thanks for the hook-up, Jared.
My old friend Ron is back home for Christmas and a bunch of us all went to see the "Chronic"les of Narnia last night. I was impressed, I wasn't sure what to expect, it seemed like most reviewers liked it, but had a few gripes about different aspects of the story. Aside from all of the kids looking like J. Crew models, I thought it was enjoyable and fairly faithful to the book, as well as I remember it. There was the extra intro segment which gave the director a chance to have some more action scenes, but I think that sets up the reason why the kids were evacuated to the British countryside in the first place, something that many in the audience may not really understand.
I'm back to Chicago on Tuesday.

The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore is listed as #8 on the insound top 10 of 2005. They're also #96 in the insound top 100 sellers of 2005.
There are some kind words about Bosque Brown in the Dallas Observer who list Bosque Brown Plays Mara Lee Miller as their top local album of 2005.

I'm in Chicago now.
Mara has finished the artwork for the LP jacket and etching for her one-sided LP, Cerro Verde. It will be out in March or April, once the jackets and LPs are back. A bunch of things are getting mastered to vinyl at the moment, the new Unwed Sailor releases, the Bosque Brown one-sided LP, and the June Panic one-sided LP. It's going to get busy in the spring again.
There is now a Burnt Toast Vinyl page on myspace at www.myspace.com/burnttoastvinyl. Add the label as your friend and have one more way to stay in contact with all things btv.

I'm getting on a plane to the midwest in a couple of hours.
sunn-0))) was crazy last night, definitely amazing when they were bringing the slow guitar noise. It got completely ridiculous when the guest singer came up in makeup and started wheezing out some lyrics, but it was loud, very loud, and at least entertaining. Ethan and I debated the ridiculousness of the makeup and he insists that it was all an act and a necessary part of the show, where I just want to see guys in beards and huge stacks of amps knock me over with their wall of distortion, feedback, and noise.
The second installment of A Burnt Toast Vinyl Holiday Podcast is now up. Download away. I hope you've enjoyed listening if you did. I think there will be some more of these in the future with some rotating pod-djs or whatever you would call them.
All orders have gone out and Matthew will be sending out any priority mails prior to 20 December on 21 December.

Today, 16 December, at midnight is the cutoff for new orders to be shipped by media mail for 2005. If you add priority mail to your order, these orders will be shipped on or before 21 December to arrive by the 24th. Otherwise, regular orders will not be processed and sent until the beginning of 2006. There have been a lot of orders this month and some of the titles in the catalog that are normally readily available are not in stock. Holiday shipments are only 100% guaranteed for btv titles, though many other titles are in stock. Also keep in mind that the Saxon Shore The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore LPs are not yet ready. But!! we have good test pressings finally and the gatefold covers are arriving next week provided the airline doesn't lose them again.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Mesh Print magazine launch party at Mo Pitkins in NYC last night to see Saxon Shore rock out. It was great to see everyone.
See you at sunnO))) tonight.

Did you download the first part of the btv holiday podcast yet? Part two should be up later tonight or tomorrow morning. There are two versions, a high quality AAC for the iTunes savvy, and a low quality mp3 version for the quickdownload crowd. Isn't podcast a weird term to use in conversation?
I'll see you for the rock in NYC tomorrow when Saxon Shore brings it home at Mo Pitkins.
Who's going to see sunn0))) in the Unitarian Sanctuary on Friday night? Ethan and I will see you there (Adam, Mike, Willi$, Matthew,...????).

Here's a special new thing for the holidays. Download the 2005 btv holiday & winter-themed podcast featuring some of our favorite songs and artists. It's about an hour long and there is a larger, higher quality format and a smaller, lower quality format. It's a little experiment to see if we'll keep it up for the long haul. There is a part 2 ready to go and it will be put up later in the week.
I had a link to this video from Norwegian rockers Hurra Torpedo up yesterday and took it down. I'm sorry Ben. Matt Neff (and Allison), it's now here for you.
Unwed Sailor have finished their big autumn tour. Thanks to everyone who came out for the rock. In the interest of capitalism in the holiday season, I am reducing the price of The Marionette and the Music Box hardbound book with cd because it is fitting for the season and makes a fine present. Production for their forthcoming full-length and ep will begin this week. They're planning a March 2006 tour (with Matt Putman and Matt Depper back in full effect) and will hit Europe in the summer.
Saxon Shore will be playing a release party on Thursday in NYC for Mesh Print magazine which features profiles of screen print artists. It's at Mo Pitkins, 34 Avenue A, doors at 9:30, bands at 10. High fives to Louise and Fringe Benefits. I'll see you all there.

I'm going to Basekamp to see the Participate exhibit tonight. Ben Volta, yes, that great Ben Volta, is part of the exhibition.
I guess in record label news, Soporus will now be the fourth band in the 4 way split 2xLP release that will now include Soporus, Magic Lanterns, Foxhole, and Questions in Dialect. Soporus replace Reels of White Softly Flow who have put themselves to rest.
Unwed Sailor is a critic's pick for their show tomorrow night in Nashville. Their tour is nearing the end, but they've got a few more nights to bring the rock, so come on out.

All I've got for today is that Part Chimp's album I am Come is really great. I think my eardrums are ready to explode.
Oh, and Mt. Eerie's Live in Copenhagen is nearing the out of print phase here in the US. Mikael at Washington Inc. has more in Denmark for everyone in Europe. He's good people and will treat you right, too.

High fives to Krister for getting me a copy of the Damien Jurado/Dolorean split 7" available on their European tour. Big props for introducing me to Red Sparowes.
I'm working the orders to get everything out quick in time for the holidays. I've added a Priority Mail option as well as a few new titles including Sufjan's Illinois LPs, Half-Handed Cloud's new 7", a live Starflyer 59 cd, the new Mt. Eerie LP+CD, and the new Thanksgiving 3xLP.
