It's been a while since I posted. I was home to Indiana for Christmas. Got to see my parents, grandma, and my good pal Ron and all his family. We all went to see the Elf and Ron and I did a late night showing of Lord of the Rings. Jess and I went to Williamsport and hung out with my pals Rich and Amy at the Crippled Bear. oh yeah. I'm hanging out in NYC for a couple of days, getting caught up on some work and fun. I made some updates to the mp3 links so you can access mp3s from The Trouble with Sweeney from the btv site, as well as their site. By the way, Saxon Shore's site has some really nice photos from the tour. You can see what Matthew the king of btv mail order looks like while rocking out as the second saxxon guitarist. Johnathon from Unwed Sailor is going to be playing some shows with Decahedron, with some members of Frodus, and they'll be touring some in February and March. Since we've been out of t-shirts for a while, I'm planning to make some more, possibly in hott pink and camoflage. If you have a particular interest, let me know. :::scott:::

I'm almost through hacking my lungs out. It's been a rough little patch of 4+ days being sick, but I'm nearly back to normal. I sold my ticket to see the last installment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think that was best for my health. I'm missing The Album Leaf tonight, too. I'm definitely regretting it. Bandoppler makes mad love to The Trouble with Sweeney and their I Know You Destroy album in this feature from their latest issue, issue #3. There's still time to order this album (and others) in time for a pre-Christmas delivery. If you're feeling nervous about media rate delievery, you can add priority mail shipping to your order for $2 more. Orders received by 21 December should be delivered by 24 December. Some on 22 December could be delivered by 24 December, e-mail us if there's a particular urgency. :::scott:::

I upgraded my powerbook to OS X Panther last night and it's really zipping along. I'm excited about how fast the e-mail program is now. I lost a favorites folder, but figured out how to do something just as good. So, mac users rejoice, this is good stuff. Upgrading was painless and all is well. Matthew (btv mailorder slave/hero) and Carrie are coming over tonight. We're going to the Oasis, this amazing Lebanese restaurant about a block away from my house. Then we're going to sort out some mail order stuff. :::scott:::

I ended up not going to the Khyber to see U.S. Maple last night. I've seen them twice before and weeknight Khyber shows traditionally have the headliner (band you want to see) going on at 11:30 or midnight. No one would go with me either. It would have been a pathetically lonely late night in the cold. So, instead, I cracked open a copy of the vinyl version of their latest album, Purple on time, and listened to it sing its thick 180g virgin vinyl love to me. I've been a fan ever since Andy convinced me to take their Talker album for a ride and saw them rock outdoors in the hot sun one day and their latest album does not disappoint. It is perhaps the most cohesive and easy to listen to release thus far with their madd skillz well-honed. I also got addicted to tapetrader.com hoping to find people to swap bootlegs with and almost finished reading Michael Moore's Dude, Where's My Country? book. Oh yeah, I've also been listening to the new 7" from Brother Danielson. This thing is amazing and it's just 2 songs, the A side being a Royal Trux cover, the B side being an original. It's foreshadow to the greatness that will come in March in the form of a proper full-length release. I have no shame in proudly saying I love anything that comes from the Danielson camp and this is a top notch effort that your turntable is craving. :::scott:::

I've updated the btv online store with a few new releases including the new Tristeza album, Brother Danielson 7", and Pedro the Lion Christmas 7". The Pedro the Lion 7" is only available with the purchase of a recent btv release since it is extremely limited and already sold out. Tonight, I'm going to see U.S. Maple at the Khyber here in Philadelphia if I can stay awake that late. Saturday, The Trouble with Sweeney will be playing at the Khyber with the Capitol Years and National Eye for the Nat'l Eye cd release party (on Feel Records). Also, Reels of White Softly Flow will be playing in Fishtown with Denison Witmer this Saturday. :::scott:::

There's snow on the ground here, about 6" that fell Friday and Saturday. In the midst of some of the snowstorm, I was fostering my friendster addiction. Some big news...btv will be releasing the vinyl version of Sufjan Stevens' new album "Seven Swans." The release date for both the cd (on Sounds Familyre) and LP will be March 2004 and both will be distributed to stores by the fine folks at Secretly Canadian Distribution. Sufjan is finishing up the layout this morning. If you haven't heard Sufjan's album "Michigan," you need to entertain thoughts of purchasing it. You can buy it from Asthmatic Kitty, Sounds Familyre, the btv online store, or your favorite local record shop. Ben from Kind of Like Spitting e-mailed and there are still plans for this one-sided LP to be released. More details when they're ready. Artwork and audio is ready now for Aspera, Starflyer 59, and Ester Drang. Yume Bitsu is still simmering away, too. It will be a big time for one-sided LPs in the early '04. One-sided LPs from Damien Jurado, The Six Parts Seven, and Early Day Miners are available now and are amazing. Damien and Eric Fisher are still planning to record the debut release from Texas' Bosque Brown. More details when discussions progress. :::scott:::

I'm back from California, arrived back Wednesday morning and was greeted by some super cold weather. During my travels, I visited my aunt, uncle, and cousin in Carlsbad, CA for Thanksgiving and made it down to Mexico. It was my first time to Mexico and Jess and I visited Ensenada, Rosarito, and Tecate and the countryside in between. We stopped off at a vineyard and saw signs for organic wine and other farm products. Soon, we found ourselves in a Mexican family's kitchen sampling their wares, tasting some pretty incredible hot sauce, cheese, and wine. It seemed really off the beaten path. Andy was able to break away from his ultra fast paced lifestyle of movie stars and video shoots to take me to a great vegetarian Indian restaurant. He swears the Yume Bitsu cover is almost finished. I met up with the kind folks at the Militia Group. Props to everyone that I met there...Rory, Chad, James, Wyatt, and everyone else I can't remember and am sorry. There's supposed to be a snowstorm here tonight or tomorrow or Saturday. Winter is really upon us. :::scott:::
