Happy Halloween!
I've added a few dates for the Unwed Sailor US tour on the webpage. Good news for those on the East Coast, there are many many many dates stretching from Pittsburgh up to Boston. We just got a good test pressing for The White Ox and are expecting a test pressing for Circles later this week or so. The LP versions will only be available as a double LP set, with Circles being a one-sided LP and an etching on side B of James Marsh' spectacular artwork. Yes, spectacular. These are beautiful albums and the artwork in LP for looks great.
Saxon Shore will be playing on Thursday, 2 November, at The Knitting Factory for the CMJ Music Marathon. Get yourselves out for the rock. They'll be landing from their Taiwan trip tomorrow and then resting up for CMJ.
Bosque Brown is playing in Dallas on 11 November with Jolie Holland. Go see them.
I now have LP covers for Isolation Years Snoose Boulevard and Denison Witmer Safe Away. A big shipment arrived yesterday. Hoping for good test pressings shortly. I'm also expecting test pressings for Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss 2xLP any day now. I added details for Yndi Halda's UK tour in December. If you're in the UK, get yourself there. Maybe I need to make a little European trip to see them rock...
I don't like to talk about bad news too often on this site, but the Efterklang test pressings (second round) have a large pop in one of the songs. Lacquers/plates are being re-cut/remade, so we're hoping this is resolved shortly. Apologies to everyone who pre-ordered, but this will be out soon, I hope. This is an awesome record.
There will be a lot of btv records to give and receive this holiday season!

We have a good test pressing for Bosque Brown's Cerro Verde and are hoping to have these out to those who pre-ordered in three weeks or less. Hopefully good test pressings for Efterklang's One-sided LP will arrive this week, as well.
Saxon Shore are in Taiwan, they just arrived this morning US time.

My parents arrived for a visit last night as Saxon Shore was practicing in the attic for their trip to Taiwan. The Saxons left this morning. Jason from Foxhole is going to be their drummer for the trip. That's a good segue for the next bit of news...
Foxhole is the newest band on the btv roster. We are working on all of the details, but their cdep Push/Pull will be out in January to retail stores as one of the four cdeps and they will have a side of the four band 2xLP that should be ready shortly. Their debut full-length album We the Wintering Tree is one of my favorite albums in the last couple of years. Our tentative plans include re-issuing this and issuing it on vinyl.
There will be one more new band announcement shortly...I just received a package from South Korea if that's a clue at all.
Unwed Sailor is preparing for the autumn US tour. If you are located in or near one of the cities on their itinerary, contact us here at Burnt Toast Vinyl or the band directly through their myspace page to become a part of their street team to hang posters in exchange for free admission to the show (with a friend).

I've added a few more shows to the Unwed Sailor autumn US tour, including an R5 productions show in Philadelphia at Johnny Brenda's. They're wrapping up a couple of shows in Europe and will be on their way back home shortly, ready to rock the US. The White Ox is now available in retail stores across the country.
Saxon Shore is practicing in the attic getting ready for their big trip to Taiwan for the MegaPort Festival. Go see them!

I think we're going to have some news to announce about a new artist on our label in the next couple of days...so that's exciting.
Unwed Sailor The White Ox will be available in stores this Tuesday, 17 October. So, order away. All orders placed through the online store have shipped and will continue to be shipped if you'd prefer to order directly.
We also have a release of 9 January 2007 for the four instrumental cdeps: Foxhole Push/Pull, The Magic Lantern s/t, Soporus Atómové Elektrárne, and Questions in Dialect The Ghost Wishes To Speak. All four are available for pre-order in the online store and are highly recommended for fans of instrumental rock/instrumental post-rock, ranging from Foxhole's calculated melodies carried by keyboards and smooth trumpet parts to The Magic Lantern's dynamic improvised compositions to Soporus' nuclear disaster themed ambience to Questions in Dialect's updated and energetic take on modern composers.
I probably shouldn't be picking my favorites for the World Series publicly any more because every time I do, my favorite gets knocked out. Grrr. But I will still be watching all of the games.
A bunch of us went to The Meadowlands last night for Willi$' bachelor party to see the New York Red Bulls play soccer against the Kansas City Wizards. It was my first time seeing professional soccer, as well as many of the other guys. Pretty interesting. The Red Bulls won and now they're in the playoffs.

Foxhole's Push/Pull is reviewed on The Silent Ballet here.
I updated the online catalog to add the A Lily cd which is James from Yndi Halda's ambient side-project and highly recommended. I also added new releases from Damien Jurado, Woven Hand, and the Mono/World's End Girlfriend split. Take a look and order away.

There's an amazing indie film called Jumping Off Bridges that is having several screenings during October and November, including 2 November in Montclair, NJ, 3/4 November at the Pioneer Theater in NYC, and 15 November in DC for those in the Philadelphia/NYC area, and others coming to LA, Sarasota, Beaumont TX, and Atlanta. Bosque Brown is on the soundtrack, as well as Sufjan Stevens, Explosions in the Sky, Jose Gonzalez, American Analog Set, The Microphones, Amiina, and a few more. Our friend Daniel Gill was the music producer and did a wonderful job...it's a great soundtrack. It's also a great movie. We got to see one of the first screenings at SXSW in Austin this spring. There is a trailer now on their myspace page.

Saxon Shore is going to be playing at CMJ on 2 November at the Knitting Factory. They'll be on at 10:30pm in the tap bar and both Matt and Oliver from Saxon Shore will be DJing during a day party at the Knitting Factory from 1-5pm. They're still on for Taiwan on 28 October.
Unwed Sailor's The White Ox is in stores next Tuesday, 17 October. Go buy it at a great store near you. There are a few more shows added for their US tour.
It was great to see Serena Maneesh and Woven Hand on Thursday night. I got a pleasant surprise and my friend Tom from New Zealand showed up for the show. It's always good to see Emil and the amazing Ben Sand.
Props to Justin, DJ, and Ricky along with Brit and Vann for hanging in Selinsgrove on Saturday. We trecked up to Williamsport country for an apple and cheese festival.
I attempted to wire up an arcade machine to our game pc, but need to get a different graphics card...in case you're keeping tabs on progress in the Commissioner's Lounge at the btv compound.
Speaking of the commissioner and all things baseball, I ended up dying out right before the end of the season and finished in second in the Burnt Toast Vinyl fantasy baseball league. My hitting just wasn't on par and the pitching wasn't enough to keep me in first place. There's always next year. My dad finished third. Not bad for an old man. The Dodgers faded a little more rapidly with a shameful performance against the Mets. At least the Yankees are done for the year. As a controversial side note: Yankees fans (and I hope none of you are, but won't hold it against you), when are you going to realize that A-Rod is really your star and not Jeter. Check the stats and trade him to Philadelphia, we'd give you Pat Burrell and be happy with your supposed superstar failure. Anyhow, I'm cheering for the A's. Billy Beane needs a World Series Championship.

I've updated quite a few dates for Unwed Sailor in Europe and added several new dates for their U.S. tour in November/December. I've also added a new Bosque Brown show and Saxon Shore's appearance at the MegaPort Festival in Taiwan.
I'll be at the unitarian in Philadelphia tonight to see my friends Serena Maneesh with Bardo Pond and Woven Hand. See you there!

Everything is now under way for the last of the cdeps in the four band cdep series. The Magic Lantern artwork was finalized and sent off to the factory. These will be released to stores in January and will include cdeps from Foxhole, The Magic Lantern, Soporus, and Questions in Dialect. These will be available from the online store as soon as they are back from the factory and the Foxhole cdep is available now.
LP jackets will be done for Denison Witmer Safe Away 180g LP and Isolation Years Snoose Boulevard one-sided LP soon.
