So the Red Sox finally won. I'm not sure the Cardinals thought those 4 games were for real. They sent the team that all of the sports writers picked to finish in the middle of the pack at the beginning of the season. No more talk about ridiculous superstition, Boston. You couldn't even burn your city down in the celebratory rioting.
Copenhagen, Mt. Eerie vinyl has arrived to your fair city. Washington Inc. is hosting a special Phil Elverum party sometime soon, look around for details if you're interested.

Watching game 3 of the World Series, I realize that I don't understand some of the commercials...some smooth talking dude named Leon hyping beer and Fox sports had the gall to interrupt the play by play to pretend to interview him? shame on you. I'm really tired of seeing the studly middle-aged man get the "V" devil's horns from the Viagra just as the annoying saxophone kicks in. The "E.N" nuts ads are completely frightening, I will never get those. Why do the people keep beeping at each other? Makes no sense. After seeing the "quattro" razor ads, I think one of the companies needs to take the bull by the horns and double-neck one of the these bad boys to deliver the "ocho." The sky's the limit. If Gillette, Bic, or Schick come out with it, you saw it here first and will be my witness as I make claim to the inevitable millions. I don't get around to much tv. These Cardinals are the same who rolled over my Dodgers? Yikes. I'm never going to be a member of Red Sox Nation, but I'm pulling for them to win, as the better and more interesting team. But, I do have to say I love Pujols and have always loved Rolen, even when Philadelphia turned on him.
By the way, The Magic Lantern is some really amazing post-rock instrumental. If you're interested, you can be one of a few people in the US to get a copy as soon as I update the store.

I just got back from Georgia and made a brief stop in Philadelphia to see the trail end of the Eagles game with some friends in a South Philly pub. It got a little crazy as the game went into overtime and was the first game I'd seen all season. I'm not much of a football fan. Anyhow, I'm watching game 2 of the World Series while I get caught up on order processing. My good friend Krister in Umea, Sweden just sent me the new Stina Nordestam album "The World Is Saved" that was apparently released in Europe on V2, but not in the US. I'm going to listen to it after the game and am really excited. Her last album was never released in the US, though I know Arena Rock was trying to make it happen. Anyhow, Stina is an amazing Swedish singer/songwriter. You can find some of her older albums in the US and they're well worth it. Krister also sent me 2 different cd-rs of his instrumental band The Magic Lantern.

I've spent the last three nights watching the Red Sox do the impossible and last night's game did not disappoint. I'm not so much a Red Sox fan as a Yankees hater, so it's comforting. I'm still secretly dreaming of a Roger Clemens game 7 victory against the Red Sox in Fenway Park, the ultimate insult. I'm a National League fan at heart. Derek Jeter...most overrated player in baseball. While Ortiz was the Series MVP, Shilling in the Robert Redford "Natural" role bleeding while he mowed down the Yankees or Baseball Jesus, Johnny Damon, hitting the two homers last night make the end of the series very exciting. If only the World Series can be this good.

All of the Damien Jurado pre-orders are now at the post office and should be arriving to everyone within a week or so. I think you'll be amazed by the cover. Ethan ran with the bootleg concept and came up with a bizarre Rorschach-blot inspired collage of Damien images, all done up in a lo-fi bootleg style. All pixelization is intentional and will enhance your listening experience. Trust me. Matthew and I are using our new electronic postage service so your orders will arrive with address verification and printed labels that should speed up delivery times. It also saves us time waiting in line at the post office. Cecil looked a little sad that he didn't get to talk to me about the Philadelphia Eagles while he put postage on 120 LP boxes. Yes, I know the people at the post office by first name. Don't you?

Thanks to everyone who came out to the BTV showcase at CMJ last night, especially Al and Tim from The Six Parts Seven. Saxon Shore debuted a set without a live drummer or recorded drum tracks, bringing in the ambient wall of guitar sound, but also maintaining the Saxon Shore melodic style. Joey Sweeney and the Forevertakers re-interpreted a Trouble with Sweeney song and offered up a few new songs that they've been working on as they move separately in a direction of '70s AM radio pop. I rode up with Matthew, Carrie, Willis, and Lauren and we later met up with Jess. Matthew and Willis were 2/3 of Saxon Shore last night and seemed to be having a great time of it. We tracked down the supposed best falafel on the east coast and made a stop at Two Boots pizza to get a slice of Bayou Beast, at least that's what I got and seem to always get. Love to get the spicy sausage/crawdad combo on my pizza.

Last night, I met up with a few friends- Willis, Lauren, Matthew, Ethan, and Courtney - to see Damien Jurado with Richard Buckner and Dolorean. It's always good to hang with my friends in Philadelphia and always good to watch friends play. Josh Tillman, of Saxon Shore fame, was playing with both Damien and Dolorean. Since he lives in Seattle, it's been a while since I've talked to him. Damien's set was one of the best I'd seen, mixing more of his somber songs with several of his more rocking songs. I encourage you to see the tour if you get the chance. By the way, my friend Ethan did the artwork for This Fabulous Century which is a completely amazing collage of a bunch of Damien photos we found and the B side artwork made its way onto a t-shirt. Check out both the LP and shirt, they look great.
Tonight, BTV showcase night at CMJ. Saxon Shore starts at 8pm and will be without drummer since Josh is on tour with Damien, but the more electronic version will be showcased. Joey Sweeney and the Forevertakers will be playing at 9pm. The Trouble with Sweeney is on a bit of a hiatus, but Joey and some friends, including Charlie Hall from the trouble will be playing as Joey Sweeney and the Forevertakers. It's all for you at Alphabet Lounge 104 Avenue C (@ 7th Street), 212.780.0202. CMJ attendees, stop by and get in with your badge, $8 for everyone else. See you there, stop by and say hello.

Damien Jurado's This Fabulous Century LPs are now shipping. All pre-orders will be sent out shortly. The white vinyl looks really sharp. If you're in Philadelphia, catch him with Richard Buckner tonight at the North Star Bar.
I'm back from Singapore, a little out of it from the flight and time difference, but glad to be home.
Come to the btv showcase at CMJ tomorrow night with The Trouble with Sweeney and Saxon Shore at Alphabet Lounge.
Johnathon Ford has left Decahedron to concentrate on Unwed Sailor and other music projects, including plans for a new Circle of Birds release.

Unfortunately, the Dodgers didn't have enough to overpower the Cardinals and make it to the NLCS. I guess it's on to rooting against the Yankees and waiting for next season.
I'm back from Borneo. Some friends and I took a short trip out into the jungle overnight, long enough to see a few interesting things and at least feel exotic. Maybe I'll go back for a longer trip another time.
This Saturday, the btv CMJ showcase is at the Alphabet Lounge, 104 Avenue C in New York. The Trouble with Sweeney and Saxon Shore will both be playing. I hope to see you there.
I'll be back in Philadelphia in time for Damien Jurado's show on Friday and I should have copies of This Fabulous Century LPs for him to sell on tour if everything has gone right at the record plant.

I'm back from Thailand for another week in Singapore. I was in Hat Yai, a fairly large city, and Songkhla, a sleepy little beach town just outside. Today, I'm happy because I just found out that the Dodgers won their division and will be in the playoffs for the first time since 1996. Go LA!
Jason Martin found the master to the Starflyer 59 one-sided LP and this will be mastered this week. LPs will be ready in time for their tour with Pedro the Lion and pre-orders will ship as soon as possible once the vinyl is back from the factory.
By the way, Mikael came across these words about the Mt. Eerie : Live in Copenhagen 3xLP. I found this brief article of note from the WKDU Communique where I was once a DJ way back in the day. It makes us happy to find that people are enjoying the set as much as we have. I hope there are more out there enjoying the vinyl, too.
For those interested, I was 9th in the Burnt Toast Vinyl fantasy baseball league. Willis took the prize.
