Willi$ and I went to see Sufjan play at The Tower last night in front of a sold out crowd. He was accompanied by a large string section and part of his normal backing band. Many of the songs had extra intros/outtros or were fuller, more involved versions. The sound was really incredible. Thanks to Daniel and Lisa for the hook-up. It was also really weird to see the tour t-shirts complete with an SUV and the slogan "Ride the hatch."
The btv fantasy baseball league is going down to the wire. I've been in first place (remarkably) through a lot of the season, but have fallen recently and am now switching back and forth between first and second. I'm hoping for a little magic to send me over the top like a lot of the teams in the NL races. I'm a Dodger fan living in Philadelphia so the best scenario for me would be the Dodgers winning the NL West and the Phils winning the wild card. I'm also hoping for the Astros to beat out the downward spiralling Cards. Dave and I have tickets to game 4 of the playoffs if the Phils make it.

I'm going to see Sufjan Stevens play at the Tower tomorrow night. Maybe I'll see you there.
Saxon Shore are going to play at the Megaport Festival in Taiwan at the end of October and will be the headliner. Taipei is an amazing city and I loved visiting it, I'm very jealous of them. It will be Matthew, Matt, Will, Oliver, and Jason from Foxhole (on drums). I'm lobbying to be their tech guy, maybe someone will believe me and get me on the plane.

I spent most of last night slaving away on artwork for Denison Witmer's Safe Away 180g LP and The Magic Lantern cdep, as well as getting audio ready to go to get mastered for LPs. I just updated the online store to include Unwed Sailor's Faithful Anchor 180g LP and the instrumental eps from Foxhole, Questions in Dialect, Soporus, and The Magic Lantern. I will have the 2xLP version of the four band split up as soon as that is ready to release (hopefully within a month or so).

There is some video from Mara's set at the University of Texas in Dallas last week up on youtube. Go check it out.
Unwed Sailor are still bringing the rock with Appleseed Cast and Murder by Death. Go see them before they disappear in a vapor to Europe and unload their new songs for our friends their.
I was at Monk's for an amazing St. Bernardus dinner last night with some great friends. It was great to see Scott, Jane, Mike, Jill, Don, and Jenny.
I'm finalizing the print work for Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss which will be a booklet in a special cardboard cover (not a digipak). Also finalizing the layout for the Magic Lantern ep.

It's a busy week for weddings. I'm back from Lake Seneca in upstate New York where my friends Kate and Dave got married this weekend. Congratulations! I also got to see my friends Brian and Liz from Austin.
This weekend, Matthew and Carrie are getting married. In honor of the pending union, we took the commissioner to see the Orioles and Red Sox play. Mike and I felt so bad that no one was cheering the Orioles in Baltimore that we betrayed our friends and better judgement to root for the O's. It didn't really help them and Boston won. It's an exciting time for baseball, though much less exciting for the Red Sox and Orioles who are already looking forward to some winter vacation. As a Dodgers fan, I'm watching the NL West and that heated last minute scramble. I'm also cheering for the hometown Phils who are in the mix for a potential wild card victory. I'm really cheering for Ryan Howard to break the record of 61 homers in the regular season (discounting those juiced monsters who have tarnished the game).

Mara Miller is playing a last minute show tonight, 14 September, at University of Texas Dallas' student center. It's free and she'll be playing solo.
Saxon Shore are playing a show in Brooklyn this Saturday. It must be kind of secret because I don't even know the details. Look around and maybe you can figure it out. But it's on.
Unwed Sailor start their US dates with Appleseed Cast and Murder by Death tonight. They're off to Europe soonafter.

Willis, Matt, and I went to see Early Day Miners with Windsor for the Derby and Pela in Philadelphia on Friday night. EDM are on tour in support of their new album Offshore which features a huge cast of supporting musicians, including our own Johnathon Ford. The vinyl sounds amazing. I also found out that Charlie Hall has been the drummer for Windsor for the Derby for about a year and a half now. Charlie was the drummer for The Trouble with Sweeney.
I'm working on the final layout for The Magic Lantern cdep that is part of the 4 band split 2xLP release. It's the last bit of business to take care of before this series can be in your hands.

I'm in NC for a few days. I stopped by to visit Redeye, the btv distributor, and make sure that all was well for the launch of Unwed Sailor's The White Ox on 16 October. Get ready and brace yourself. I've updated their tour dates with a venue change for their dates with The Appleseed Cast and Murder By Death and added a couple of European dates. Unwed Sailor will be out on tour in the US in November into December and I will be posting that information as soon as it's known. It's on, it's so on. There have also been some talks about a Circle of Birds full-length to be recorded in February in Colorado.
The yndi halda enjoy eternal bliss booklet layout is nearly complete and the cd is mastered. Everything is looking good for this release.
We're getting close to an announcement of a new band or two to the btv roster...who will it be, who will it be??

Congratulations to Justin and Sanna on the birth of their son Cameron. Farewell to Mike Stichter who is leaving us for Baltimore. He likes to be mentioned here.
I'm in Chicago over Labor Day weekend and just got back from having a rattlesnake sausage at the magical Hott Doug's.
The 180g LP version of Unwed Sailor's The Faithful Anchor is shipping from the factory on Tuesday and should be available for the band's dates with The Appleseed Cast and Murder by Death. I've just updated these, so take a look.
