I'm off to Thailand this weekend with some friends. A few of us have made plans to go to the Sarawak, the Malaysian part of Borneo next weekend. I can't wait to go to the jungle.
The magic number for the Dodgers is down to 2...

I spent yesterday hanging out with Nic and Ben for my last day in HK. We visited a lot of out of the way markets looking for old cameras and other goodies. Nic ended up buying a glockenspiel and got a great deal. I considered getting one, but wasn't up for lugging it around.
The magic number for the Dodgers clinching the pennant is now 7...It's looking better and better.

I'm in an internet cafe in Hong Kong with my old friend Ben. I hadn't seen him in about 3 1/2 years, but now we've been able to meet up. We sat in a park drinking PBR and I gave Ben proper lessons in being trashy and America. Ben introduced me to his New Zealand friend Tom and we all went to have amazing Pakistani food at the Butt restaurant. Later, we saw Nic, formerly of Unwed Sailor, play in his band here called From When He Came. Ben refreshed my memory about playing a dice game I'd learned in Copenhagen and a bunch of us wasted the night away playing. I'm sure Mikael and Willis are jealous...aren't you? We're going to some markets and the beach later today. Loving Hong Kong...I'll be back in Singapore on Sunday night, though.

I just arrived in Singapore. Matthew is going to take care of mailorder while I'm away, but I'm still in charge of processing them from here. Things might take a few extra days to be processed, but shouldn't really affect the mailorder. Thanks to everyone who is ordering our many new vinyl releases. Woven Hand and Damien Jurado should be ready very shortly.

Two big pieces of news. The first is that there will be a Burnt Toast Vinyl showcase for CMJ at Alphabet Lounge in NYC on 16 October. More details as soon as they are completely finalized. The second is that Saxon Shore will be entering the studio to record their third full-length, tentatively titled The Death of Saxon Shore, beginning the first week of November with Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, Mogwai) in Fredonia, NY.

Today is a groundbreaking day, the artwork for Damien Jurado : This Fabulous Century LP is done and on its way to the printer. Ethan was the mastermind who made it happen. Look for this LP to finally be ready for Damien's October tour. It also looks like some of the artwork may make its way onto a tour shirt, but we'll see how that goes. I've posted the artwork for this LP and the Woven Hand LP in the webstore if you want to see very small versions of them.
Also, plans are underway to finish the etching for Aspera : Back When Love so this one-sided LP is nearing completion. The audio and jackets have been done for a while, this is all that's left.

For those out there awaiting the Starflyer 59 one-sided vinyl release, the audio plates are somehow missing and need to be re-done. This is finally happening in the next few days and is the last part of the release. I have boxes of covers sitting in my house, the etching and labels have been sitting at the factory for months. This will see the light of day in time for the autumn Starflyer 59 tour with Pedro the Lion.
Also, my pal Ethan is going to crank out the artwork for Damien Jurado : This Fabulous Century this weekend with vinyl completed just in time for his October tour.
Woven Hand : Consider the Birds vinyl is almost finished and should be back from the factory in a week or so in time for pre-orders. The cd on Sounds Familyre and the split release LP will be distributed by Secretly Canadian in November to your local record shops.
Tonight was Denison Witmer's last show in Philadelphia as a city resident. He's moving to Madison, WI on the weekend and will only ever be seen back here on visits or tours. Goodbye, Witmer, I'll miss having you around so often.

I just got back from seeing Mt. Eerie play in Philadelphia. It's always a great time to see Phil live. The first copies of the 3xLP were taken home by anxious purchasers in the crowd.
I updated the live dates to reflect the September 2004 Unwed Sailor tour of the Southern US. If you're there, make sure you take time to see them play. Most dates are with Questions in Dialect.
