I feel like I'm really behind on updates here. I went to Boston this weekend and stayed with Randall from Jetenderpaul. There is a 9 min Jetenderpaul epic that may find itself on a 7" very soon. We'll see. Thanks to Randall and Beth for being great hosts.
Unwed Sailor are doing a few dates with The Appleseed Cast and Murder By Death before they go off for a month in Europe. Dates are posted on the site now. Also, the UK dates of the tour are with A Lily which is James from Yndi Halda. I'll have the A Lily record added to the online store shortly, it is one of the best ambient records I've heard in a long time. Seriously.
I'm off to Chicago for some Hott Dougs this weekend. See you there.

I'm all about Emperor X ever since I saw the show in Philadelphia a couple months back. I've been listening to Central Hug/Friend Army/Fractal Dunes on Discos Mariscos. You can hear some of his songs on the Emperor X myspace page. Anyhow, Chad is working on a series of recordings called "The Blythe Archives" and one of the releases in the series will be a one-sided LP for Burnt Toast Vinyl.
Yndi Halda has finished the audio for Enjoy Eternal Bliss and it should be mastered this week. The artwork is also finished, too, and I'll be organizing it to send off to the printer for the US/UK versions.
Oliver Chapoy from Saxon Shore was once a member of Shai Halud. 'nuff said. Does this prove their hardcore cred?
Jessica is coming to visit and then we're going to Boston to visit the great Dr. Randall from Jetenderpaul. There will be rumors and rumblings of future recordings, I am sure...Are they the most awesome btv band that you've never heard? Quite possibly.

I am in North Carolina this week for a few days. A few of us went out for dinner tonight. One of my friends swore that one of the guys who came into the restaurant was a movie star. So, we had a lot of fun teasing our friend until he went over to ask him if he was in a particular movie. It turns out that it was DJ Qualls who was in Hustle & Flow and Road Trip. Cool.
Unwed Sailor continue to bring the rock to the West Coast. See them. Now.

The jackets for June Panic Raising the Canopy Wire one-sided LP arrived today and they're looking good.
Yndi Halda is wrapping up the final song for Enjoy Eternal Bliss and the artwork is now done.
Tomorrow, I'm going to catch a special surprise performance by Soporus at Drexel University's Nesbitt Hall around 6ish. Then, I'm going to see Denison Witmer and Don Peris play in Philadelphia at The Tin Angel. Saturday, Jeremy Enigk at the North Star?

I got test pressings of the 180g LP re-issue of Unwed Sailor's The Faithful Anchor today. They're sounding really great. The covers and inserts are all ready and waiting, so it shouldn't be much longer until an official release date. I should be adding it for order to the online store tomorrow. Meanwhile, the band is still working its way up and down the West Coast.
The artwork is also finished for Questions in Dialect The Ghost Wishes to Speak that is part of the four band 2xLP release and four cdep set. It's looking more and more like a November release date for the vinyl and cdeps.
I'm finishing up the artwork for Denison Witmer's Safe Away 180g LP. The audio has been mastered to lacquers and the plates are on their way to the factory. I will be making the LP jackets for this at the same time as those for the Isolation Years' Snoose Boulevard. I made the logo for Do You Dream of Noise for my friend Krister's label/distro and that's ready to be added to the jacket design. It's going to be a busy vinyl summer/autumn.

I updated the online catalog a bit. The Mt. Eerie 3xLP is now available again. These are the very last copies, so get them while they last. I also added the new one-sided LPs from Efterklang, Bosque Brown, and June Panic. These will ship as soon as they are ready, hopefully within the next 2-4 weeks. I also added Unwed Sailor's The White Ox CD and the Unwed Sailor 2xLP version of The White Ox with Circles. There are a couple new releases from other labels, as well. The catalog will be streamlined a bit over the next couple of weeks. Our goal is to highlight instrumental releases from other labels, as well as very highly recommended and loved releases from all of us at btv.

Bosque Brown was included in a list of 20 bands that you need to hear.
Unwed Sailor are rocking the West Coast. Check them out when they're in your town. cd versions of The White Ox are now done and will be out to retail stores for a 17 October release date. The band will have some copies with them on the road until they run out, so there's some extra incentive. The White Ox picks up where The Marionette and the Music Box left off, but washes the new songs in an ambient Eno/Lanois production quality from producer Dan Burton (Early Day Miners, Ativin). There are some surprises, with Burton and Johnathon Ford providing vocals on "Gila" and Burton again providing vocals on "Numbers". The band has played some of these songs live, including "Pelican" which Johnathon would sing lyrics to, but "Pelican" now has pennywhistle melodies and an accordion accompaniment. There are definitely some hints of Native American imagery, something that has always influenced Johnathon since his Oklahoma upbringing, which is shown in the spaciousness of the record, culminating in the birdlike pennywhistle sounds of "Pelican." UK artist James Marsh again provides the artwork for The White Ox and is a set with the cover image from Circles, both of which tie back to the ambience and Native American imagery. But, longtime fans can still hear the magic that makes up Unwed Sailor from Firecracker to The Faithful Anchor to the Stateless collaboration with Early Day Miners to The Marionette and the Music Box. Unwed Sailor has never been content to re-make the same record with each release and both Circles and The White Ox are no exception.

I'm back from a short trip to North Carolina and got to meet up with Greg from Redeye, the distributor who carries the btv releases. We meet up at the Mill Creek, a very nice Belgian styled pub.
The btv compound entry way is stacked high with LP jackets for the Bosque Brown, Efterklang, and Unwed Sailor vinyl releases and the actual June Panic vinyl. We've had some problems with the test pressings for Bosque Brown and Efterklang, so will have to push their release off a bit. But we're definitely gearing up for a heavy vinyl push this autumn.
