A special congratulations to my old high school pal, Tim, who is getting married at the end of the month. The van is packed for a cross country trek with Reels of White Softly Flow. Maybe I'll see you in a midwestern dustbowl, rocking out in white. The vinyl for Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness is in the house and it's hott. Get a copy while you can. I am surrounded by boxes of Unwed Sailor books. A big shipment is going out to pre-orderers tomorrow AM. An extra special thanks to the Garsons, Dave, Colin, and Jess for an amazing weekend. There were visits to both The Center for Land Use Interpretation (a husband and wife have sequentially photographed the entire CA coast in 12,000 images and were exhibiting it as slides, 3 seconds apart) and Museum of Jurassic Technology, a special b&w film viewing in the Hollywood Forever cemetery, and a midnight viewing of Army of Darkness. :::scott:::

Good news all of you Unwed Sailor hardbound book pre-order consumers. The books have arrived. Finally! The orders will all be filled in the next couple of days, so be looking for yours soon. I'm still in Europe, getting ready to go back to the US. I went to see Grandaddy last night in Amsterdam with my friend Sarah. We had this amazing spot facing the center of the stage from the balcony and the show was really amazing. I was quite impressed. Hello to everyone from Lausanne, Switzerland who I got to meet or see again: Fig (and his nice girlfriend whose name I will spell wrong), Sandro, Maude, Julien, Valerie, Stephanie, Christian petzi, David, and the rowdy Swissman who wanted to start a fight because I was American. Lausanne was quite a beautiful place to visit, sitting right on Lake Geneva. I got to go on a picnic and to a bbq, it was a great time. :::scott:::

Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness was the 14th most added record this week on the CMJ charts. The Trouble with Sweeney : I Know You Destroy! moved up 6 spots to #69 on the top 200 and is #72 on the CMJ Core charts. Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box is at #109 on the top 200. I'd like to give some major props to Denison. I parked by his house and he took me to the airport. In the meantime, there have been two accidents while the car is parked. Quite a lot of drama for one person to take, but everything seems to be working out. Both crashers admitted their guilt and everything should be taken care of. Anyhow, go see him on tour with Jeff Hanson. It's been a while since Denison has properly hit the road, so make the effort to get out and see him play. By the way, Saxon Shore are beginning their summer touring, so be sure to see them at a town near you. :::scott:::

I'm in France after spending a few days in Amsterdam. Friday night, a bunch of us went to see Pedro the Lion play in an extremely weird show for me. There was only one band and the show started on the exact time printed on the ticket. Apparently neither is that strange. This Sunday, I'll be seeing Cat Power, so I'll let you know how that show works, too. It's at 4pm on a Sunday, so that's already weird to me. My luggage got lost on the way to France and my rental car and hotel reservations didn't go through. I found out it was a holiday weekend, so no work on Monday, then, and no way to get a car because of the holiday and a bunch of peopel getting cars due to some labor strikes. I did find a hotel to pick me up at the airport, so I wasn't homeless. My luggage showed up a day later so I could stop trying to not smell up my clothers in the hopes that they would last enough for me to wear them to work. Denison is car sitting for me in exchange for picking up all american radio : fragments of cds and Early Day Miners LP jackets today. Apparently someone scratched it up a bit while they were parallel parking. I guess I'm missing the excitement that Denison gets to experience. It's easy to be calm about these things when you're so far away. Unwed Sailor books should be arriving soon. I haven't heard any final confirmation, but my friends are on the lookout to meet up with the truck. The Trouble with Sweeney fell ten spots on the CMJ top 200 to #74, but re-entered the CMJ Core charts at #66. Unwed Sailor moved up 18 spots to #85. So, keep listening for these releases on your local college station. Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness has been serviced to CMJ station and is going for ads next week. We'll see if we can have three records in the top 100 at the same time. There is a new Reels of White Softly Flow LP underway in time for early July that Broken Factory will be putting out. Zaxxon Matt is in control. :::scott:::

I received the test pressings for Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness LP and Early Day Miners : Deep Harbor one-sided LP today in the mail. It's a bit like Christmas when this stuff shows up. Quite exciting and foretelling a very busy summer for vinyl releases at btv. Hey, did you visit The Onion this week yet (it is Wednesday, all of you cubicle drones)? Wander on over to The Onion AV Club and see the nice words they had to say about The Marionette and The Music Box. Another reason for me to be smiling this evening on minimal sleep and preparing to fly to Amsterdam tomorrow. The Trouble with Sweeney just received 5/5 in A.P. for I Know You Destroy!, though I haven't seen the mag yet. Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box hardbound books are on their way from Iceland to the US. Should be here in a week or two and then out to everyone who pre-ordered. Lacquers for Starflyer 59 : Old 2x10" are on their way to the factory and plates for Starflyer 59's one-sided LP, Portuguese Blues, should have arrived. Portuguese Blues is a return to some older guitar riff intensive days, but with a little dirty blues sound mixed in. These should be out in the relatively near future, perhaps sooner than expected, possibly early July. Covers for Early Day Miners : Deep Harbor one-sided LP and The Six Parts Seven : The Attitudes of Collapse one-sided LP are getting printed and the vinyl should be underway, as well. These should be ready sometime in June. Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness LPs will be here soon, test pressings are on their way. The Trouble with Sweeney : I Know You Destroy! vinyl has been delayed due to cover image resolution issues, but these should be solved shortly. Busy times for vinyl releases here at the label. We're earning the middle name we so desparately want to keep. I was at Four Tet, Manitoba, and Prefuse 73. I went to see Four Tet which didn't translate as well as I'd hope to the live set, but Manitoba was completely impressive, as was Prefuse 73. Good times, but not as good as the time Dryw was having... Colin, Dave, and I are sorting out a return trip to Los Angeles, hopefully after I'm back for a work trip to France. Farewell to Justin Kay as he wanders across the US. Yes, this is a blog... :::scott:::
