I received the sample books for Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box today. They're looking super hott. Hopefully the full shipment will be arriving in a couple of weeks, these have to be shipped by boat from Iceland. The kind folks at Oddi printing are doing the work. They've done most of the McSweeney's books and were the only printers able to take on our specifications.
I've also received the test pressing for Yume Bitsu : Good Vibes one-sided LP and The Six Parts Seven : The Attitudes of Collapse one-sided LP. Things are looking and sounding good. The artwork isn't yet finished for Yume Bitsu, so that release will happen a little later, but The Six Parts Seven is right on target for June sometime.

Happy Birthday to Nathan (who is 30 today) and Andy today.
The Dodgers have now won 10 games in a row, so I am pretty excited.
The missing etching for Early Day Miners was found, so everything is now underway again for their one-sided LP and The Six Parts Seven one-sided LP.
All Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box LPs should be on their way tomorrow to everyone who has ordered and been anxiously awaiting them.

Willis, Sarah, and I went to NYC today to see the Diller and Scofidio exhibit at the Whitney. It was Willis' idea since he's the architect, but it was definitely something impressive from a less informed point of view. Lots of installations that dealt with images, branding, interaction with spaces, as well as cutting edge architecture. Their "Blur Building" was an installation in the 2002 World Expo in Switzerland where they created a misty fog to encase their structure. Willis visited the building after studying abroad in Copenhagen and it was interesting to find out more about the architects' work.
We stopped by to visit Josh at the Fanatic offices. Saxon Shore : Four Months of Darkness will be going out to radio and press in the very near future.
The trip was capped off with a visit to Two Boots Pizza, love the super spicy pizza slice, and the Magnolia Bakery, such amazing cupcakes, though Sarah swears she can make better. We're all waiting...

In other big news for the label, Bosque Brown is officially on Burnt Toast Vinyl. Mara Miller is the songwriter who is Bosque Brown and she will be recording a full-length album later in 2003 for release sometime in early 2004. There are some mp3s of demo songs available here.

Some very exicting news...The Trouble with Sweeney : I Know You Destroy! debuted at #128 on the CMJ top 200 this week and Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box debuted at #83 and was the #5 debut of the week. Thanks to everyone supporting these releases at college radio; continue to listen to your local CMJ station for both releases.
I'm continuing to lok for information about the Museum of Jurassic Technology and found some interesting things on the internet here, here, here, and here. Things seem to be divided, but in general I am falling on the side that several exhibits are purposely vague with some believable untruths, but there are factual things in the museum, as well. All in all, I am regretting not returning to have more time to go through the exhibits. Next trip.

I'm back from California, arrived this morning on the redeye flight. Yesterday, Mike, Elisabeth, Andy and I joined me for a pilgrimage to Dodger Stadium. We roasted in the sun and watched the Dodgers beat the Marlins 2-1. Later on, we replaced Andy with Jessica, wore our lobsterman t-shirts, and walked down the Venice boardwalk. Mike claims he saw Flea, but I think it was just the drum circle influencing him. I think I forgot to mention in my previous post that Mike was wearing a Half Japanese shirt on Thursday that his wife bought him for Christmas that was worn by Jad Fair. How amazing is that? Earlier, we also visited the Museum for Jurassic Technology. I?m officially soliciting evidence as to the validity of the exhibits. Some opinion suggests that many of the exhibits are purposely fake. Any advice via e-mail is appreciated.

On Friday and Saturday, I visited my aunt, uncle, and cousin in San Diego. I visited my cousin?s kindergarten class as his show and tell assignment. We all played lots of video games, did some miniature golfing, and road go-karts. Lots and lots of fun.

June Carter Cash passed away this past Thursday night. She was married to Johnny Cash, member of the Carter family, and co-writer of the famous ?Ring of Fire.? She will be missed as her songs and legacy live on.

Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box was #14 most added on CMJ charts this week. Thanks for everyone who is supporting the record. Be sure to listen for Unwed Sailor on your local CMJ station.

All American Radio is playing a couple of last minute announced shows:

I've updated a few things on the web site today, including a new splash page and added some more information about forthcoming releases. Everything should be updated in the next few days.
We'll start to take pre-orders for the Early Day Miners and The Six Parts Seven one-sided LPs in a few days, as well, with both records being available from mail order in mid-June or so. Early Day Miners : Deep Harbor will be available in stores on 1 July.

I'm now in San Francisco and have been listening quite a lot to the forthcoming Aspera release, Oh Fantastica, schedule for stores on 3 June from Jagjaguwar. The boys are carefully tweaking their tunes for a one-sided LP to come out later in the autumn time frame. If you are a fan of the Birds Fly sound (and how couldn't you be?), you will love Oh Fantastica and all that comes later.
Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box is going for adds on CMJ stations this week, so any support is appreciated, especially as well-informed listeners. Keep your ears open and attentive.
Unwed Sailor is planning an August tour of the US with Early Day Miners, more details will be announced once they are finalized. Do you have EDM's Jefferson at Rest album yet? It is something you need to get this week.
I had a great time hanging out with my friends in LA and was able to make a second stop at Randy's Donuts on the way to the airport. Perfection in a donut? Maybe, pretty close. I think the central PA donuts with creme in the ring give them a run for their money, but Randy does know what's up.
Happy Mother's day, Mom.

I'm in Los Angeles at the moment and things are very busy and happening. I'm staying with my friends Mike and Elisabeth who live near the ocean in Venice Beach. Their friend James was visiting and they've been editing an independent movie that they filmed last year. Last night, we had an outdoor barbeque, went to some super underground improve comedy thing, a midnight showing of Trilogy of Terror with a short talk back featuring actress Karen Black, and then a 3am visit to Rocoe's Chicken and Waffles offering the best in, well, chicken and waffle combinations.
We've been visiting quite a few other strange spots, includnig Randy's Donuts, a donut stand with a gigantic donut on the roof that can occassionally be seen in movies.
I'm off to San Francisco for a few days tomorrow. I'm going to see a baseball game on Tuesday with Jamie Hunt, who did the paintings for Unwed Sailor's The Marionette and The Music Box, and my old friend John who went to my high school. Should be exciting times ahead.
In one-sided LP news, both Early Day Miners and The Six Part Seven are being pressed and printed while we speak. Starflyer 59 have completed the audio for their release to be entitled Portuguese Blues that features a slight return to the gritty guitar rock days of old. Mount Eerie will begin working on a one-sided LP in July, tentatively, for a late autumn/early winter 2003 release.

The Trouble with Sweeney : I Know You Destroy! was the #15 most added on this week's CMJ charts. If you live near a CMJ station, listen in or make a request to hear a track off the album. TTWS will be meeting up with OK's Aquaduct for a few shows while on their massive cross-country US tour. Hopefully you've gotten to see them play.
Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box is featured on insound at the moment. If you regularly shop there, consider throwin that in your shopping cart. MP3s from that release and TTWS will be available from insound tomorrow.
I'm off to California for a bit tomorrow. Will be in LA for a bit, then to San Francisco and back to LA and San Diego. Maybe I'll see you there...

I've just returned from seeing The Microphones/Mount Eerie for the second time in two days. Phil (who is both entities) played bass the first night in an interesting, but somewhat failing experiment when I saw him in Brooklyn, tonight was more traditional with electric guitar. I am a big fan of The Microphones, now Mount Eerie. Phil recorded a song with my good pal Mikael in Copenhagen a few weeks ago. Those connections always get my nostalgia flowing, remembering visits to that fair city and all of my Scandinavian friends. I guess this leads to my next piece of big news...I will be releasing the vinyl for The Lionheart Brothers : White Angel Black Apple in the United States. I rode around Europe with The Lionheart Brothers in the summer of 2000 because my good friend Rolf was their manager. In any case, White Angel Black Apple is a great record that's been released in Europe already by Sally Forth. The cd version will most likely be co-released in the U.S. by btv and Velvet Blue Music. We're going to finalize all of the details shortly, but it is planned for an autumn 2003 release...
