Thanks to everyone who came out to see Saxon Shore play at the North Star for Thrilladelphia last night. They'll be playing in Philadelphia again this Sunday, 7 May at the Khyber before they shove off for some dates with Anathallo and Denison Witmer.
I have a new batch of t-shirts so everyone who had been waiting for sizes or colors that were out of stock will be getting theirs shortly. I have a special white on white edition and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, so I'll probably do a bigger run next time. I'll have light blue added to the store very shortly, it's one of my weekend goals.
Mt. Eerie are playing in Philadelphia this Tuesday, 2 May at the Unitarian. See you in the basement...

I'm listening to two songs from the Foxhole contribution to the 4 band 2xLP release and they sound incredible. No official release date yet, but a lot of progress is being made. All of the band have committed to having cdep versions of their sides, so this will be a release that will have cdeps from Foxhole, The Magic Lanterns, Questions in Dialect, and Soporus and one 2xLP with all four bands on it. Vinyl lovers will reap the benefits. Willis and our friend Matt Neff will most likely be doing letterpress covers of the LP versions, so they will be extra special, but more details soon.

I'm excited about two words: garden weasel.
I got the reference acetate for Unwed Sailor The Faithful Anchor. This is going to be issued on 180g vinyl very shortly, hopefully in about 4-6 weeks if all goes well. It's been a while since I've sat down, concentrated on this record, and listened to it entirely in one sitting. It's definitely an instrumental classic and deserves to be on high quality vinyl.
I'm also sending off the cd component to Bosque Brown Cerro Verde, the one-sided LP with cd that will be out shortly, as well.
The official retail release date for Unwed Sailor's Circles cdep will be 2 May, so I will be adding this to the online store later tonight or tomorrow and they will be shipping immediately. Also, if you order a hardbound book+cd version of Unwed Sailor's The Marionette and the Music Box you will get a free copy of Circles during the rest of April and the month of May.

Matthew fought the bureacracy to pick up a new pressing of The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore at the airport. Thanks for being my slave.
I just placed an order for a new batch of btv logo shirts and I'll be adding a new color, sky blue, to the online store shortly.
I also upgraded the btv shipping department and have a shrinkwrapping set up. Should be interesting. I have a bunch of Unwed Sailor books that need to get shrinkwrapped and sent off to Redeye. You're getting all of the exciting behind the scenes details here...

James from Yndi Halda has a side project called A Lily. His first release wake:sleep will be out on Dynamophone Records in June. It's over an hour of ambient guitar and electronics, a very beautiful record. I'll try to have copies available from the online store as soon as they are available.
Thanks to everyone who came to see Half-Handed Cloud, Vollmar, and Lenny Smith on Saturday. I had a lot of fun hanging out, especially when John, Justin, and I were aimlessly cruising around Northern Liberties looking for a tacqueria. After a couple of phone calls and stopping to ask a few people for directions, we eventually had some really amazing food. John has a tour only Half-Handed Cloud ep available, so be sure to get that when he plays in a town near you.

Everyone has left my house after a busy few days. I had Jessica, Rich, Todd, and Ben all making LPs for me on Monday to help me get caught up on distribution. Redeye is going to distribute several LPs with the first batch hitting on 16 May. Starflyer 59's Portugues Blues one-sided LP and Talking Voice Vs. Singing Voice LP, Ester Drang's Pleasure Themes and Get Rich Schemes, and The Six Parts Seven Attitudes of Collapse will all be out then. This will be the first time to get those Starflyer vinyl releases in a record store near you.
Soporus has just created a myspace page that features 3 songs, 2 of which can be downloaded. They will be one of the bands on the 4 way 2xLP split release.
Johnathon Ford is coming to Philadelphia tomorrow as part of Rosie Thomas' band who are playing at World Cafe Live. Maybe I'll see you there.
I'm helping put on a show with Half-Handed Cloud (Asthmatic Kitty/Sounds Familyre), Vollmar (BlueSanct), and Lenny Smith (Sounds Familyre) above Circle Thrift at 2007 Frankford Ave in Philadelphia this Saturday. Come on out for some fun.

It's been a busy weekend. Ben, Jess, Todd, and Rich have all been visiting. I saw The Devil and Daniel Johnston as part of the Philadelphia Film Festival on Saturday. It gave me a new respect for Daniel Johnston and was one of the best rock documentaries I've ever seen. Thanks to everyone who showed up on Saturday night for the festivities.
Sunday, a lot of us met up to see Danielson: A Family Movie as part of the Film Festival. It was great to see everyone and hang out after. My friend Todd just posted a review of it on his Twitch Film website.

Todd Brown from Twitch Film braved the border crossing and arrived from Canada last night. He's a walking encyclopedia of Asian film.
Rosie and Witmer cleared up the Sufjan baby joke far too soon for his fan site, shame on you both.
Saxon Shore are squaring off against Gregor Samsa in round 2 of the Decoy Music post-rock competition. I have to admit I really like Gregor Samsa's 55:12, but war is war and the Saxons need your vote. Register and vote away. Yndi Halda will be competing tomorrow. Keep up the voting.
Saxon Shore are playing MACRoCk tonight in Harrisonburg, VA at Court Square Theater.
Jessica is arriving late tonight. Party in honor of her, Ben, and Todd at my house on Saturday. See you all there.

Bosque Brown was nominated for 4 Dallas Observer music awards this year:
Best Song "Still Afraid"
Best Female Singer
Best New Act
Best Folk/Acoustic
Emperor X! Wow, what a fun show last night! Ethan and I went to bask in the lo-fi indie pop brilliance. Later, we met up with Ben, Emil, Dan, Elin, and Steph to pick up Ben and get some of the Serena Maneesh gear. We showed Ben how good a Philadelphia pretzel can taste at 1am when it's fresh off the conveyor belt.
Todd is arriving from Canada today. We're all set to see the Danielson Famile documentary on Sunday at the Prince Theater. If you're in Philadelphia, it's the place to be on Sunday night. Even Ben Volta will be there.

Saxon Shore won in the first round of the Decoymusic.com post-rock tournament yesterday. Yndi Halda is in the running today, go vote for them.
Congratulations to Sufjan and Rosie on their upcoming new project as reported by Pitchfork...happy parenting you lovebirds.
Many thanks to Commissioner Stone who slaved away weeding, raking, and mulching most of the day yesterday. He is my lawn wrangling hero.
Tom, Brit, and I wandered over to Temple's Ambler campus to see Denison play in what seemed to be their student center. It was a super early show with Denison headlining at 7pm. After, we kidnapped him and somehow ended up playing trivia at the Drafting Room later in the night. As the Sleepers, in celebration of Denison's forthcoming ep Are You a Sleeper?, we finished in the middle of the pack. He was also able to confirm the Pitchfork rumors.
Tonight, Ben Sand and Todd Brown are coming to Philadelphia!
Also, a don't miss event:
Emperor X (Mountain Goats with drum machines?, it's got the Shrimper indie pop sound)
Franklin Delano (creeky folk music from Italy)
Jon Felton and his Soulmobile
1125 S. Broad in Philadelphia. $6, 8:30pm.
Red Sparowes has had some gear stolen in Stockholm. If you're Swedish, go to Do You Dream of Noise or the Red Sparowes myspace page for some more details.

Congratulations to Jesse and Lois on their new baby girl. I'm sure Uncle Ben is happy. Wait, that's kind of funny. Ben Volta = Uncle Ben. Yes, I know you will be tormenting me about this comment and I welcome it.
Tonight, I'm off to see Denison play at Temple University Ambler campus. I just realized that tonight was the night.
Oh yeah, it looks like the post-rock madness tournament at Decoymusic has started. Go vote lots for Saxon Shore and Yndi Halda. I guess voting for this round ends at midnight.

Congratulations to Brian and Liz on their recent engagement.
Happy Birthday to Mike. A bunch of us took him out to celebrate last night.
My parents left yesterday after a visit. They overhauled my house and have it ready for spring. We all went to see the Phillies and Red Sox play on Saturday with Scott and Jane. The Phils were looking pretty good. I took it upon myself to boo Manny Ramirez very loudly, as should any respectable baseball fan. Miguel Tejada and Alfonso Soriano should also be on the short list for booing. Any player with a multi-million dollar contract and trade demands or position playing demands must be booed. At the top of this booing list is Johnny Damon. The once Baseball Jesus is now the baseball Judas, selling out rivalry for cold hard cash, shaving his beard, and cutting his hair. Even if you're a Yankees fan you should be booing this wretched man. I did cheer for Coco Crisp, I don't hate everyone. How can you not with such a great nickname? Enough of my opening day baseball ranting, let the games begin.
Summer Hymns have posted a preview track on their myspace page. It's super hott and will begin to thaw us northerners out for the springtime. Zachary and I have been chatting on and off since an autumn 2001 performance about doing a Summer Hymns one-sided LP. Guess what? It's listed in the update and should be out before another year goes by.
It's going to be a busy week. My friend Adam is putting on a show with Emperor X and Frank Delano on Wednesday and it should be a good one. Ben is supposed to be driving down from NYC for a week's stay or so and Todd will be arriving from Canada on Wednesday for the Philadelphia Film Festival. Jessica arrives on Friday.
