I'm getting ready to leave San Francisco. I had breakfast super early with John of Half-Handed Cloud fame and it was a lot of fun. His releases have been on Asthmatic Kitty/Sounds Familyre and the Canadian IN Transit label. Last night, I met with Adam, the manager of The Trouble with Sweeney, before the Giants game. I tried to convince him to go and almost had him, but there was some fancy dealing of tickets that took place and he went home. I fully embraced the Padres domination of the Giants with an 11-0 shutout. Oooh yeah. Dodgers are still going strong. Big news, Kind of Like Spitting are finally doing the final mixes for their one-sided LP. Yeah, it's on. Back to LA in a couple of hours... :::scott:::

I'm in San Francisco for a few days this week. I was in LA last weekend and will be there next weekend. I'm supposed to see the Dodgers play on Sunday. It's kind of shocking that they actually have the best record in baseball at the moment. It's still early, but kind of impressive. :::scott:::

I saw 16 Horsepower on Friday in Germantown at North by Northwest, the first time I've been to this club. It was great to see them play for the first time in about 3 years in Philadelphia. Saturday was Danielson at The Khyber with Espers and Architecture in Helsinki. I got there at 10:30 and only missed the 4th opening band. Danielson went on at 1am. Who books shows like this? Who wants to see bands at 1am? Completely ridiculous. I also think the four band bill is a crime against humanity. June Panic is the newest addition to the one-sided LP schedule. He's planning to record some material after he returns from a European tour. Also, Summer Hymns have confirmed participation in the series. :::scott:::

I guess Georgia Tech couldn't ever catch up with UConn. Too bad. It's baseball season now... A fond farewell to Zombies guitarist Paul Atkinson who died last Thursday. :::scott:::

Last night, Ethan and I went to see Ester Drang play at the Khyber. Owen was supposed to play, but ended up cancelling. Bad form to cancel shows...The kids wanna rock. Anyhow, Johnathon Ford rode up from MacRock with the boys and Aaron Weiss from Me Without You joined up with us all for a nice night of rock, fun, and fresh soft pretzels. 8th and Washington pretzels are served fresh and hot, but they don't open up until after midnight. Get yourself there the next time you find yourself bleary-eyed after a long show. It's one of the cities well-hidden secrets. The Drang's on tour for a couple more weeks, so be sure to catch them. NCAA basketball finals tonight. I'm not sure who to root for officially, but if Georgia Tech wins, I somehow manage to win the pool at my Mom's school. Guess that as good a reason as any other. :::scott:::

It's been a bit of a whirlwind today. A vanload of us made it to Citizens Bank Park to see the first Phillies game in the stadium, a late spring training game against the Indians. They ended up losing, but we got to see Jim Thome make the inaugural hit, a home run. We arrived early enough to grill some hot dogs and sausages out in the parking lot, which turned out to be a lot of fun. The stadium is nice enough, better than the Vet, for sure, but not nearly as interesting as Wrigley Field or Camden Yards or even Matt's favorite Fenway Park. Tom and I were a little sleepy. We made it home around 4am from seeing Sufjan play at the Knitting Factory in NYC. The sound here is always good and for Sufjan's set, it was exceptional. The place was completely sold out, so there was very little space for comfort, but the show was definitely incredible. He'll be going out for a few more dates soon to support Seven Swans. We made it into the city early enough to meet up with my friend Nicole and her friends at a Thai restaurant and met my friend Heidi, who was visiting NYC from London, before the show. Heidi is the sister of my friend Ben who never seems to be in the same country as me. Where are you Ben Sand? I'm watching NCAA basketball tonight, rooting against Duke. It's every American's duty, as much as rooting against the Yankees. This week, my parents and some friends bought tickets the the NCAA basketball rounds 1 and 2 for 2005. Can't wait to see the games in person. :::scott:::
