Many thanks to my friends Justin and Sanna for sending me some great loot from Asia...some souvenirs from Cambodia and various Asian snacks. Greatly appreciated. Also, thanks to Jamie for sending me a super weird pacakge. Both added some excitement to the weekend. I went with my friends Matt and Emily to meet up with Rich and his friends from Williamsport, Sarah and Jeremiah, to see an exhibit of David Lynch's art at the Reading Public Museum. I had no idea that there was even a museum in Reading, let alone willing to show David Lynch's work. The exhibit was a few recent prints, as well as some older paintings from his studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Not too many things on display, but enough to make the trip worthwhile and interesting.
Today is the big start of baseball season. The Burnt Toast Vinyl fantasy baseball league has been started; we'll see if my dad is tough enough to beat all the rest of us. Dad and I will be going with a few friends to see the Phillies' home opener on Friday and another game on Saturday. Should be pretty exciting. I'll be rooting for the Phillies, but hoping the Dodgers start it off right.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction...The chain reaction of evil--hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars--must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation."

Cat Power was in brilliant form last night in the sanctuary of the unitarian church, beginning as a full band and playing many songs off of the new record, "You Are Free." Things turned special when Chan sat at the grand piano and began playing many more songs by herself, before wrapping up with a few solo songs on electric guitar. The difference between the show I saw last night and one a couple years ago was definitely like night and day.
Damien Jurado will be playing in Philadelphia on 16 April with Dave Fischoff and Adam Voith and will be touring the US from 8 April to 19 April. Damien's LP only release of demos from 1997 entitled "This Fabulous Century," is still progressing towards release. It should be ready for the summer or early autumn.
My friend b.w. pointed out an ironic/scary tale of godspeed you! black emperor on tour in Oklahoma. There is also a new mp3 on their website.
Love that Michael Moore...

Sigur Rós was completely amazing last night. The string section that they brought for the tour, members of the band Amina, added a lot of texture to the songs. They were having some technical difficultites, so no projections for them or the opening band, The Album Leaf. It was really interesting to see The Album Leaf on such a large stage; the last time I saw them was at the Fire for an afternoon set. They handled playing in such a large room very well. My friend Dryw let me get backstage and I got to meet The Album Leaf. Nathan knew my friend Michael Kaufmann, so it was great to have stopped by. Thanks to Matt Ralph for hosting the pre-game cookout/picnic and forcing me out to the show by having the extra ticket.
I just watched Indiana fall to Pitt in the NCAA second round. It was a sad day for Indiana fans, our team just never quite gelled properly.
Tonight, Willis, Sarah, and I will be seeing Cat Power in the sanctuary of the First Unitarian Church. I'm hoping its better than the last time I saw her, but the new album is so amazing that I just can't escape it...

I am just watching the end of the Indiana/Alabama basketball game and am very excited to see that Indiana has won. It's been a rough year for college basketball, at least as an Indiana fan.
Unwed Sailor and The Singing Mechanic were here earlier in the week. Thanks to everyone who came out to see them play with Denison. Be sure to see Unwed Sailor and The Singing Mechanic live for their last dates on the tour. You won't be disappointed.
Tomorrow night, I think I am going to see Sigur Ros here in Philadelphia with a few friends and am excited to go.

Doors at 7:00, see you there. Daniel Smith will be attendance, if you need any more reasons to come on out.
Did you fill out your NCAA picks yet?

I am excited that Indiana actually made it into the NCAA tournament. They started the year so strong and faded so fast, but maybe there is hope after all.
My fantasy baseball league draft was yesterday, so I'm looking forward to some baseball after the NCAAs. I'll be at the Phillies opening day with my dad and a few friends.
Also, many thanks to Kyle for the wonderful bootleg cds. We occassionally trade recordings and he just sent a new batch which included old shows from Neutral Milk Hotel, Mogwai, Behead, and the Rachels.
I just added a bunch of new cds to the on-line store. Go nuts.

I just sent out an e-mail update to everyone on the btv mailing list today. If you're a regular reader of the web journal, then there's nothing really new to report. Jeremy Dybash did finish the etching for Yume Bitsu's one-sided LP, so there is more progress here.
Don't forget to see Unwed Sailor, The Singing Mechanic, and Denison Witmer in Philadelphia on 19 March (Wednesday) at the gallery formerly known as Reset Art, 203 S. Camac Street. The doors open at 7 and the rock will be underway at 7:30 or so.

I am finally back home after a little more than 5 weeks away. Ethan is going to be finishing the Trouble with Sweeney design tonight and I'm going to visit and keep him in line. The cover art should be posted in the next day or so, once I get around to it.
The official release date for both Unwed Sailor : The Marionette and The Music Box and The Trouble with Sweeney : I Know You Destroy! is 22 April. All American Radio : Fragments Of will come 2 weeks later, most likely.

I'm getting ready to leave France for Amsterdam later this afternoon. I'll be in Amsterdam until Sunday morning and then finally get back to the US. Very exciting times.
The Trouble with Sweeney and Denison Witmer are set for their trips to SXSW in Austin, TX. Unwed Sailor has started their spring US tour. Go see them all if you can.
Congratulations to my friends André and Rosa who just had a baby boy.
