For all of you out there who can understand Italian, there's a nice little podcast about Bosque Brown here. I'm not exactly sure what's being said, but it's a fun time for a Friday morning.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Saxon Shore at the Knitting Factory in NYC last night. They'll be in Millersville, MD (near DC) on Saturday, so I should see you there if you come. They're back to Brooklyn on 10 March at the Union Pool and then off to Japan later in the month.
I have my plane ticket to go to Texas for SXSW with Bosque Brown. See you all at the Eternal on Saturday, if not before. Get ready El...
The Efterklang one-sided LP master has arrived along with the hi-res photo for the cover.

Last night, the record listening club reconvened after quite a long hiatus, mostly due to the Saxon Shore touring. We listened to some Asian LPs I'd collected, a Fluxus anthology, a weird high fidelity test record Willi$ had, and then tuned into the documentary Powaqqatsi. Kind of a weird mix of things. Ethan and I stopped off at the btv post office box. For months I've been smelling the aroma of donuts cooking near the 30th street station post office. For those outside of the area, this is one huge post office, the p.o. box area is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year, and it's located right next to the highway and the 30th street train station. So, the aroma of donuts? Yes, Ethan confirmed the scent, but we don't understand where, why, or how.
Tonight, Saxon Shore hit the Knitting Factory in NYC. They're playing in the Tap Bar on a four band bill that starts at 8. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Pitchers and catchers are already at Spring Training Camp and the btv fantasy baseball leagues are underway. If team names like Ricky Hendersunn0))), Pelicanseco, Gagne West, gybjuanpierre, or the very terrible cat prior bring a smile to your face and you have indie rock cred (or are my dad), you should be in our league. Shoot off an e-mail and explain your situation for the chance to earn a coveted invite.
Efterklang have sent off three songs for their one-sided LP and have a cover photo ready to go. There's going to be a lot of vinyl this spring with one-sided LPs coming from Bosque Brown, Efterklang, and June Panic. Ethan and I are swearing (you listening Ethan?) that the Aspera etching will finally be done and this record will be out just in time for their new band, Favourite Sons, to displace the Arctic Monkey or whatever ridiculous reigning hipster band of the moment. Also, a special treat...Unwed Sailor's The Faithful Anchor will be out on vinyl in a special 180g version. It's our first in extra heavy vinyl and it will impress. I think the one-sided LP for Isolation Years is just around the corner, as well. Krister and I have been working with the two Jacobs in the band to narrow down the tracklist.
Unwed Sailor's Circles cdep is at the factory and will be released to stores on 2 May, coinciding with some upcoming touring. The White Ox cd will be releaed on 22 August and the 2xLP that will have both Circles and The White Ox will be ready in the summer for some early vinyl adopters. James Marsh did the covers for both releases and they're magically mystical.

Happy Birthday to Adam, Carrie, Courtney, and Matthew.
I'm back from some birthday celebrations and a dance party of sorts hosted by Danae and Emily in the West Philadelphia. It was great to see lots of good friends who were in attendance.
I took the train up to New York last night for the first time in a long time to see my good friend Brian who was up from Austin. We've been friends since high school, so it's always good to meet up. Our other friends Dave and Kate from Jersey (by way of Austin) met up with us for a long night of catching up.
Jeremy Dybash is our expert etcher for the one-sided LPs and is going to finish up the etchings for Bosque Brown, June Panic, and Unwed Sailor shortly. Ethan and I are going to sort out the new B side for the Aspera one-sided LP and finally get this thing out. It's been way way way too long and the world needs to hear these amazing songs.

There's a complete Bosque Brown show that was posted from January on Gorilla Vs. Bear here. Since you probably haven't seen the band live, unless you live in Texas or saw them in Philadelphia or New York City, feel free to give a download. And buy the amazing Bosque Brown Plays Mara Lee Miller. Bosque Brown's Cerro Verde one-sided LP is underway and should be out in the next couple of months. Also, Bosque Brown are playing at SXSW in Austin, TX at Eternal on Saturday, 18 March. Hopefully I will see you there...

Congratulations to Keyes and Maura on their recent engagement!
Saxon Shore sounded great on Saturday. It was the first time I'd seen them play as a five piece and a few songs were slightly updated and re-arranged in order to make use of Oliver on stage. Thanks to everyone who came out to see Saxon Shore, Bang Bang Beautiful, and mewithoutyou. Dave, Jessica, and i made the trek out and met up with a bunch of folks before the snow came. Props to Louise for making the trip from Brooklyn. The Saxon Shore Japanese tour has been confirmed. They be playing the following dates with Tristeza:
28 March OSAKA UNAGIDANI SUNSUI
29 March KYOTO TAKU TAKU
30 March NAGOYA IMAIKE TOKUZO
31 March TOKYO SHIBUYA O-WEST

Low and His Name is Alive were pretty amazing on Tuesday night. Ethan, Courtney, and I went and met up with Mike and Matt. His Name is Alive played some really old songs, reaching way back to Home Is In Your Head for "Are We Still Married?" and at least one song that sounded familiar from Mouth By Mouth, later confirmed to be "Cornfield" by Adam. Of course, I'm sure alternate versions have been released from the many cd-r releases that have come out that I don't have. It was like the show Rich and I went to in like 1997 or 1998. Weird. Low was much better than their last trip to Philadelphia and the sound was better than their first performance in the Unitarian Sanctuary. They don't play many of the pre-Kranky era songs live these days. I would kill (ha ha) to hear "Violence" or "Above and Below".
Jess will be here this weekend and we're off to see the Saxon Shore/mewithoutyou show downtown. It's apparently sold out already, so you're out of luck. It's a benefit show, but I'm looking at it more like a battle of the bands and am expecting the Saxons to notch their guitars come Saturday...

It's been a hectic week. I was in North Carolina for a few days. I got to meet up with everyone at Redeye, our fine distributor, at their newish offices. It was good to see Greg, Steve, Lori, David, Aaron, Tor, and everyone else. They've been quietly assembling an indie rock empire for their distribution and now distribute GSL, Arena Rock, Three One G, File13, Gern Blandsten, Gearhead, TKO, Rainbow Quartz, Buddyhead, and Dirtnap. btv was one of the first indie rock oriented labels that Redeye added and we're happy to be a part. I was happy to see piles of LPs in the warehouse, so we'll be getting out the btv vinyl releases in the coming weeks and months to your favorite stores.
Oliver is working on the xml feed for the podcast page. I tried and couldn't do it manually in the five minutes I alloted to do it and I haven't gotten a chance to fix it. I'm working on getting Matthew Stone's list up next for later in the week.
Tonight is a btv Super Bowl party. Hope to see you there.
