The Exqusite Death of Saxon Shore was #10 on the Decoy Music top 50 instrumental records of 2005 list.
Oliver Chapoy's (of Saxon Shore) best of 2005podcast is now up. Oliver picked his favorite 10 records plus 3 extra from 2004. I attempted to DJ the songs and make the podcast. So, if there's no continuity, it's all my fault.

I went to Brooklyn on Friday and Cake and I went to see Serena Maneesh play at Northsix. It seemed to be packed out and I thought I overheard it was sold out. Anyhow, Emil was bringing his band for their US debut and I was happy to see it. It was good seeing Sondre, it had been like 4 years or something.
I got in some copies of the UK only Damien Jurado/Dolorean split 7" and the Mt. Eerie one-sided 7" and will add them to the btv store shortly.
The Mt. Eerie Live in Copenhagen 3xLP is nearly out of print, like 15 or less left in the US. So in the interest of capitalism, any purchases will require the purchase of an additional btv title.

Happy Birthday to my sister.
Happy MLK Day. May you remember and celebrate the legacy of this great man for all he believed, from the struggle for civil rights to his less popular views on economics, politics, war, race, and religion.
A few more updates from the Saxon Shore camp...
Saxon Shore was contacted a few weeks ago about the use of one of their songs on the trailer for the 25th annual Sundance Film Festival. Starting this weekend at the Sundance Festival in Park City, UT and other Sundance sponsored theatres across the country, you will hear "This Shameless
Moment" from The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore as opener to the event.
Saxon Shore begin some regional touring this weekend and have thrown out the sampler to make room in the van for their mysterious fifth member, Oliver, who has participated in the recent ep and full-length, but has never played with the band live. The rock is all live again. Dates:
Jan 20 Harrisonburg, VA - Festival Ballroom at James Madison University
Jan 21 Lynchburg, VA - The Hangar
Jan 26 Fredonia, NY - Williams Center at SUNY Fredonia
Jan 28 Grand Rapids, MI - Cornerstone University
Jan 29 Muncie, IN - Student Center at Ball State University
Feb 11 Philadelphia, PA - Circle (Broad and Washington) :: w/ mewithoutyou
Mar 10 Brooklyn, NY - Union Pool

It's official...we've been working on negotiations with quite a few people and places, but The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore will come out in Japan in spring 2006 and include the super hott remix that Tyondai Braxton (Battles) did. Saxon Shore will also be touring Japan to coincide with the release.

Oliver and Matt are in Philadelphia from Brooklyn practicing with Will and Matthew for some upcoming Saxon Shore dates. Oliver has been a part of Luck Will Not Save Us from a Jackpot of Nothing and The Exquisite Death, but hasn't played live until now. The band is meeting up with Steve and practicing in central PA for the rest of the week.
Bosque Brown has some shows coming up in January, including this Saturday in Dallas, and will be playing at SXSW this March in Austin.
If you're on myspace, become friends with Burnt Toast Vinyl.

I'm off to see Denison Witmer play at the World Cafe tonight in Philadelphia. Willi$ and Matt Neff made some sweet letterpress posters to advertise the event around town. Props. Anyway, see you there.

Lana Kim and Andy Bruntel directed a video for Stephen Malkmus' "Baby C'mon." Andy's good people, take a look. There's a new podcast up that was a little New Year's party compilation Jason Coffman made with my overbearing input and some suggestions from Jess and Siri and Horton, probably more. It's fun. There will be some best of 2004/2005 podcasts up from various btv celebrities once I get them made.
Johnathon is going to make some edits to The White Ox so the full-length will be delayed. Circles ep will come out in late March/early April as planned with the vinyl set of The White Ox and Circles to follow shortly after. Vinyl for The Faithful Anchor should be ready sometime in early 2006 if all goes well. Which is hasn't lately. The second set of LP jackets for The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore have arrived, but the latest test pressing has some issues. We're getting a new plate made, hopefully this one will do the trick. The Saxons are practicing for a few days, incorporating Oliver into the live show for their upcoming weekend/spot dates in January/February/March.

Happy New Year!
The Danish band Efterklang is finishing up two songs for their one-sided LP that will be released this spring on Burnt Toast Vinyl.
My friend Krister (Do You Dream of Noise mailorder in Umeå, Sweden) and I are planning a one-sided LP co-release for the Swedish band Isolation Years sometime in 2006. We have some rough tracks to sort out for the LP and are working on that now. I've been excited about Isolation Years ever since Krister played me their first full-length when I visited him in 2001. Jakob from the band is Krister's neighbor and we're all excited about working together.
Ty Braxton from Battles (Warp Records) is almost done with a remix of a Saxon Shore track from The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore that will appear on the Japanese release. Not sure how this will get released in the US exactly, but we'll let you know one there's a good plan.
