Test pressings for Emperor X’s one-sided LP The Blythe Archives Vol. 1 arrived and sound great. Everything should be on track to have some LPs for his mid-November tour dates, including 17 November in Philadelphia. There’s a big puzzle in the artwork and etching, but I’ll reveal more information soon.
I went to see The Darjeeling Limited with Mara, Ryan, and Winston in Dallas, making it the second Wes Anderson movie I’ve seen in a Texas theater. Kind of weird coincidence for me, I guess. I enjoyed the movie and really wished I’d been able to go to India like I was supposed to several years ago.
I left Norman yesterday and Unwed Sailor was wrapping up the recording and hoping to start mixing Little Wars. We’ll see how it all shapes up. I enjoyed visiting Guestroom Records, a really great record store on Main Street in Norman, and also loved having some breakfasts at The Diner.
See you at Jesu tomorrow night in the basement of the Unitarian, Philadelphia.

I’m all about Emperor X ever since I saw the show in Philadelphia a couple months back. I’ve been listening to Central Hug/Friend Army/Fractal Dunes on Discos Mariscos. You can hear some of his songs on the Emperor X myspace page. Anyhow, Chad is working on a series of recordings called “The Blythe Archives” and one of the releases in the series will be a one-sided LP for Burnt Toast Vinyl.
Yndi Halda has finished the audio for Enjoy Eternal Bliss and it should be mastered this week. The artwork is also finished, too, and I’ll be organizing it to send off to the printer for the US/UK versions.
Oliver Chapoy from Saxon Shore was once a member of Shai Halud. ’nuff said. Does this prove their hardcore cred?
I’m going to Boston to visit the great Dr. Randall from Jetenderpaul. There will be rumors and rumblings of future recordings, I am sure…Are they the most awesome btv band that you’ve never heard? Quite possibly.

Best Folk/Acoustic
Emperor X! Wow, what a fun show last night! Ethan and I went to bask in the lo-fi indie pop brilliance. Later, we met up with Ben, Emil, Dan, Elin, and Steph to pick up Ben and get some of the Serena Maneesh gear. We showed Ben how good a Philadelphia pretzel can taste at 1am when it’s fresh off the conveyor belt.
Todd is arriving from Canada today. We’re all set to see the Danielson Famile documentary on Sunday at the Prince Theater. If you’re in Philadelphia, it’s the place to be on Sunday night. Even Ben Volta will be there.
