Many thanks to my friends Justin and Sanna for sending me some great loot from Asia…some souvenirs from Cambodia and various Asian snacks. Greatly appreciated. Also, thanks to Jamie for sending me a super weird pacakge. Both added some excitement to the weekend. I went with my friends Matt and Emily to meet up with Rich and his friends from Williamsport, Sarah and Jeremiah, to see an exhibit of David Lynch’s art at the Reading Public Museum. I had no idea that there was even a museum in Reading, let alone willing to show David Lynch’s work. The exhibit was a few recent prints, as well as some older paintings from his studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Not too many things on display, but enough to make the trip worthwhile and interesting. Today is the big start of baseball season. The Burnt Toast Vinyl fantasy baseball league has been started; we’ll see if my dad is tough enough to beat all the rest of us. Dad and I will be going with a few friends to see the Phillies’ home opener on Friday and another game on Saturday. Should be pretty exciting. I’ll be rooting…Continue reading

Cat Power was in brilliant form last night in the sanctuary of the unitarian church, beginning as a full band and playing many songs off of the new record, “You Are Free.” Things turned special when Chan sat at the grand piano and began playing many more songs by herself, before wrapping up with a few solo songs on electric guitar. The difference between the show I saw last night and one a couple years ago was definitely like night and day. Damien Jurado will be playing in Philadelphia on 16 April with Dave Fischoff and Adam Voith and will be touring the US from 8 April to 19 April. Damien’s LP only release of demos from 1997 entitled “This Fabulous Century,” is still progressing towards release. It should be ready for the summer or early autumn. My friend b.w. pointed out an ironic/scary tale of godspeed you! black emperor on tour in Oklahoma. There is also a new mp3 on their website. Love that Michael Moore… :::scott:::
