For
three years All American Radio has been sculpting a unique sound,
blending beautiful melodies with chopping rhythms. The four musicians
have worked diligently at writing, recording, performing, and
promoting their orchestrated creations. After forging Instruments
and Landscapes, a split EP released on Burnt Toast Vinyl Records
in 1999, the band took time to venture twice into the central
United States. Now, after a shining year of balancing performance
filled weekend trips and staggered recording sessions, All American
Radio has completed their inaugural solo release. On the verge
of a release the new album, Fragments of, builds momentum preparing
to satiate the anticipation of listeners acclaiming the prior
release, cherishing impassioned performances, and intrigued by
the bands previous critical acclaim. As these four friends and
skillful musicians continue to nurture their creation, they grow
in confidence that these analogue recordings are worthy of the
love, sorrow, pain, and elation that have labored them into existence.
All
American Radio has become known for dynamic live performances
full of swelling melody, flailing guitars, and a blend of color
and movement not soon forgotten. As an opening act for many events
this band continues to attract a vastly diverse and passionate
audience. All American Radio has had the good fortune of opening
for a varied cast of independent bands. In the past three years
they have performed with The Promise Ring, Burning Airlines, The
Dismemberment Plan, Cursive, Small Brown Bike, Engine Down, Joan
of Arc, Cerberous Shoal, The Faint, Franklin, Antarctica, The
Anniversary, Hot Rod Circuit, and Denali. Even more diverse then
the list of bands with which they have shared the stage, is the
list of bands to which All American Radio have been compared.
From record to live reviews this band can never quite be mirrored,
but have received comparisons to Rainer Maria, My Bloody Valentine,
The Smashing Pumpkins, Ida, Seely, Sonic Youth and the old stand-by,
Sunny Day Real Estate.
Although,
All American Radio has become known for their own brand of tight,
heavy, and climactically noisy rock, the soon to be released recordings
will show a newly dynamic side of the band. A side that ventures
to explore melody and atmosphere as much as stop and go power,
and does so through unique use of textured guitar and bass effects,
keyboards, violin, cello, and vibraphone. With each song the band
continues to show four musicians that are as introspective as
they are socially conscious.
